Customer Review Summary
Diners most often single out the generous portions, with several calling the food fresh, full of flavour and tasty, and one praising a chicken jalfrezi and tarka dal as rustic, homely cooking. One reviewer describes a hungry challenge of mixed meats in a balti curry with an oversized naan and rice, finishing with a free dessert and a certificate. Close behind is the service, described as friendly, welcoming and accommodating, with a birthday cake and song for one table. The lively, buzzy atmosphere gets repeated mentions, even on a Tuesday night. The caveats are modest but specific. One reviewer found the chicken dishes a little dry and bland, called the dynamite chicken weird, served on lettuce like a prawn cocktail, and felt the food lacked anything special, though the naan was the tastiest item. Another waited about 15 minutes for a pre-booked table, and one found the staff over attentive. Several say the portions suit the price, and one group of nine shared ten dishes, three large naans and two jugs of mango lassi.

“Really friendly and efficient service here- we could not fault that. We booked a table ahead of time so were sat very quickly. The 3 stars is due to the food. Whilst there was nothing wrong with it, it lacked anything special. It’s like it was the best restaurant many years ago and now other restaurants have taken over with better food and so our standards have changed. The chicken dishes were a little dry and bland. The dynamite chicken was weird- it was served like a 70s prawn cocktail with hot chicken on top on lettuce. The naan was the tastiest thing on the menu and the family size novelty is amusing.”

“Visited last night for the first time, we we're served by Tahih. He was extremely helpful, full of smiles and couldn't have been more accommodating. Thank you for making our experience all the better! Incredible food, the portions were generous for the price. The setting was beautiful and lively for a Tuesday evening. We would highly recommend and be back very soon.”

“Currently enjoying an unpretentious and tastey chicken jalfrezzi and takka dall. It's rustic and homely food, deceptively simply and wholly satisfying. It does suffer from over attentive staff, but that would be would be overcritical. Loved the experience of dining there, superior to many of the lofty restaurants in London. Highly recommended for an authetic meal that will take you take to ummi's cooking.”

“Great food! I was impressed. I’m normally fussy when it comes to food and my partner knows but she suggested this place and my god, I enjoyed what we had ordered and ate! Definitely will revisit again when I’m in Manchester! Well worth it!! Great taste too!”
