Customer Review Summary
Okra fries are the dish reviewers name most, called spicy, crisp and excellent, even by one diner who found the rest of the food merely decent and wanted meat dishes. Close behind are the Bundo chaat, dhokla chaat, vada pav and paneer curry, with the chaats described as layered, cold, tangy and served with yoghurt and chutneys. Gobi Manchurian and spicy nuts also appear. Drinks draw steady praise: the mango lassi, a Chaispresso martini, mocktails, the python lager and a coriander beer. Several mention the combo or platter for groups, with one calling the meal deal for four plenty of food. Vegan diners are repeatedly pleased. The caveats are practical. One family found the stairs tricky with a pushchair, one server seemed grumpy and served the people behind them first, and drink service at the bar felt slow. One reviewer noted the paneer curry's bhatura arrived deflated rather than hot and puffed, though still tasty. Staff otherwise come across as friendly and chatty, and ordering at the bar was easy.

“A great indian restuarant who sells so much delicious dishes. Just happened to find this place while we were staying in Manchester. They have lunch deals during the weeks which was reasonably priced and sell selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drink. Mango lassi was my favourite. Just wish they had more branches throughout the UK.”

“Nice location just off Picadilly gardens/bus station. Got the vegan platter for 2. Food was great, came fairly fast and was a good portion for the price (for vegan food). All the the staff were nice and we were saw too quickly, would recommend and come back if in the area.”

“Absolutely incredible!! We decided spontaneously to try this place out and were surprised by the nice location, when it doesn’t look like much from the outside. We were quickly seated and the friendly staff explained the self-order situation. The cocktails were AMAZING, so creative!! And really balanced. And the food was creative too, fresh, quickly brought to our table and we had a lovely night. I love Indian and Pakistani food with my heart and have tried a lot of different Indian restaurants internationally, and Bundobust really excelled in introducing a new twist to well-known dishes. Very vegan friendly (100% recommendation on the vegan meal for two) and don’t sleep on the cocktails/mocktails! Special shout out to the Chaispresso martini and, of course, the ocra fries. Thanks for the lovely night!”

“Absolutely Fabulous. To atmosphere, staff and good, mocktails & pale ales. So tasty, fresh, fun, casual, quirky but still fancy. Best place for family , friends, fun and or romance. Daisy was so welcoming, pleasant helpful and amazing service. As were all staff. I will be back x 10/10 recommend”

“I love craft beer, a pint of the good stuff goes hand in hand with tasty street food which is why I was looking forward to dining at Bundobust. I don't eat enough okra fries, simply because I don't see them often on menus in Derby. This spicy, crisp Bundo version was very good. I couldn't bear to leave them (I was stuffed on the paneer curry) so I took them home on the train as lush leftovers. The okra fries came up well in the airfryer for circa 5 minutes, so I enjoyed Bundobust food over two days (great value for money). Other dishes I enjoyed were the paneer curry and dhokla chaat. It would have been ace to see the accompanying bhatura with the curry to be inflated and hot like a traditional balloon-esque bread. Despite deflation the bread was still tasty. I have not had a dhokla chaat before but I would get again. The yellow sponge base is the perfect base to soak up all sauces, I may well (try) to recreate this at home. Re: craft beer, the board shows a really strong offering. It would have been nice to see a double IPA on the board, but the Patta, a Bundobust-Verdant collab paired well with the paneer curry. Tropical fruit notes went well with tomatoey, onion base of paneer dopiaza. Overall I can't wait to return and visit the brewery site too.”

“Serving Indian Street Food and pouring Craft Beer from our own award-winning brewery plus guest beers from our friends around the country and local heroes. Casual, lively Desi pub vibes across down in the basement, right in the thick of the City Centre across from Piccadilly Gardens. THE spot for a quick lunch, getting all your friends around one table, or to kick off your night out with a few beers or cocktails.”
