About Tattu Manchester
Tattu Manchester is a Chinese restaurant at 3 Hardman Square in Manchester, founded in 2015 with interiors inspired by tattoo art. Its name joins "tattoo" with "tatau", a word meaning to make a mark. The kitchen works from a menu of 113 dishes built for sharing, with dumplings among the starters and Duck Egg Fried Rice among the rice dishes. Set menus include a Modern Sharing menu with a starter, main course and dessert, as well as a set all day menu. Halal options are on the menu, and mocktails sit on the drinks list. Desserts include the Cherry Blossom dessert with candyfloss, and a dessert and tea combo is also available. The restaurant is just round the corner from the Opera House, which makes it a fit for a meal before a show.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come to Tattu for celebrations, mainly birthdays, and the recurring detail is how the staff handle them: a birthday surprise arranged for a partner, an anniversary plate with a message written on it, and a server who still managed a surprise when the party had to leave quickly. Servers are repeatedly praised as friendly and helpful with menu explanations and suggestions, including help with an allergy order. Diners name the fish dumplings, pork dumplings, a beef rib starter, black cod with spicy noodles, and the Cherry Blossom dessert with candyfloss. Others single out the mocktails and a dessert and tea combo. The venue is described as beautiful and dramatic, and a few call the meal expensive. The criticisms are smaller. One reviewer found the food nice but not the highlight, one steak arrived a little cold though its sauce impressed, and one party waited longer for a table, did not get the requested one, and found their reservation note about a birthday had gone unread. One diner also felt the atmosphere was less indulgent than expected. Another table was served an extra dessert that had been made in error.

“Exceptional Dining Experience – Perfect for Special Occasions! This was my second visit to Tattu Manchester in six months, and once again, it did not disappoint! We’ve chosen Tattu for celebrations on both occasions, and it remains a good spot in the city for a memorable night out. What Made It Stand Out: Atmosphere & Decor: The venue is stunning. The interior design creates a high-end, dramatic, and beautiful setting that immediately sets the tone for a special event. Food & Menu: Premium quality across the board. A massive plus is their selection of halal options on the menu, making it very accessible without compromising on variety. Standout Dishes: The Chinese BBQ Chicken was exceptional beautifully cooked, tender, and full of flavor. I also had the Cherry Blossom dessert, which was an absolute showstopper! The presentation with the candyfloss was brilliant and tasted fantastic. Drinks: Really enjoyed the mocktails! They are creative, expertly crafted, and add that extra bit of flair to the meal. Service: Top-tier hospitality. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel well looked after throughout the night. The Verdict While Tattu is certainly an expensive restaurant, the overall experience from the food and desserts to the service and atmosphere, is 100% worth the premium. We’ll definitely be back for our next milestone!”

“Francesco served us and we had an amazing time. He was super accomodating and explained everything nicely. He even offered to take our pictures. The food came quickly and the staff were really accomodating when moving our table to a nicer area. We had to leave quickly but Francesco still managed to get a birthday surprise out for my partner. It was an amazing dinner.”

“An absolute gem! Highly recommended! This place is fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious, and the venue itself is beautiful and very pleasing to the eye. A special shoutout to Francesco and Diana, who welcomed and served us. They were incredibly friendly, professional, and more than happy to answer all of our questions. Great food, great atmosphere, and top-tier service. We will definitely be back!”

“Sunday afternoon nice and quiet. Robert who served us was nice chap. We ate from the set all day menu. Starters, fish dumplings looked awesome and tasted great. The pork dumplings were also delicious. Main, Angry bird was quite a decent portion also delicious. The Steak was good but a little cold when served but the Sauce it came with was out of this world. Puddings were very nice too. Overall great place for a special occasion. Quite expensive but I’m not going here all the time.”

“I visited Tattu for my birthday, and overall it was such a memorable experience. If I’m being honest, the food for me was around a 7/10 nice, but not the main highlight of the night. What really stood out was everything else. The vibes, the service, and the atmosphere were absolutely amazing. The whole place just feels so aesthetic and well put together. I have to mention the dessert and tea, hands down my favourite part. The dessert + tea combo was honestly to die for and completely elevated the whole experience for me. A special mention to the team for helping my husband arrange the cutest little birthday surprise I genuinely loved that touch and it made the night feel extra special. I’d 100% recommend this spot for a girls’ night out, especially when you want to dress up, look cute, and be somewhere that matches that energy. The restaurant itself is just as pretty as the food!”

Good to know
“Founded in 2015 the Tattu brand set out with a clear vision – to bring something unique and exciting to the UK culinary scene. The word Tattu is derived from a combination of ‘Tattoo’ (the art form that inspires our interiors) and ‘Tatau’ which is an ancient word from eastern culture that means to ‘make a mark’. The goal was to build a customer experience around the brand that stimulates all senses, fusing beautiful and meaningful design with quality and innovative Chinese cooking. Diners are encouraged to embrace the customary approach of sharing dishes with their guests, from colourful dim sum and luxurious small plates to contemporary main course dishes and stunning desserts.”
