About Caramello Cafes Ltd
Caramello Cafes Ltd is a halal brunch cafe in Manchester, serving from 10 Whitechapel St since it opened in 2016. The kitchen makes its dishes in-house, and the Caramello English is the full breakfast, plated with eggs, halal bacon and toast. Shakshuka sits alongside it on the menu, and the pancakes come as a stack built for sharing. Drinks run from coffee to hot chocolate and freshly squeezed orange juice, and the interior has been refurbished. The cafe has also been featured in The Breakfast Club book.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the Caramello English breakfast, praising the halal bacon, eggs and toast, with the lamb sausages in the Karamelo Full English singled out as flavourful. Close behind are the chicken with waffles and turkey bacon, the shared stack of pancakes, and the shakshuka, described as rich and warming. The Spanish latte, freshly squeezed orange juice and hot chocolate also earn mentions, and one reviewer notes the alternatives offered for allergies and gluten intolerances. Staff are described as friendly, and one party of 20 had everyone's food brought out in a timely manner. The renovation is called welcoming and fab. The main complaint is value. Two reviewers found portions small for the prices and the food fairly average, and one called the atmosphere sterile with spa-style background music. A longer-standing customer reports favourites removed from the menu, a caramel latte that tasted burnt, and a rosti royale soaked in oil. Another reviewer appreciated the honest wait time given on arrival, with children enjoying the colouring activities.

“We came hoping for a memorable brunch, but unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to the prices. The food was fairly average and small in portion size. The venue itself is nice, but the overall atmosphere felt sterile, further set off by background music that belonged in a spa rather than a cafe. Service was pleasant, but not enough to redeem the food and vibe. We likely won't be back.”

“This is a lovely little café with such friendly and welcoming staff. We enjoyed the drinks, but felt they were high in price. The atmosphere was lovely. Unfortunately, we felt the food didn’t quite live up to the 4.5 rating. The portion sizes seemed a little small for the prices, and although the food was perfectly fine, it wasn’t quite as tasty as we had hoped. Again the price was quite high. Personally, I wouldn’t go again, as I’ve definitely had better, but that’s just my personal preference. Please don’t go by my review alone, give it a try yourself, as you might feel completely differently!”

“Really enjoyed our breakfast at Caramellos. Everything came out fresh and tasted great. The eggs, halal bacon and toast were all cooked perfectly and the portions were just right. They also are very attentive to allergies or gluten intolerances providing alternatives. Nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. We’ll definitely be coming back!”

“As someone who has been coming to Caramello for years, it’s sad to see that it’s not the great place it used to be. Love the new renovation but some disappointed to see that popular favourites have been taken off the menu. Increasing prices whilst also removing NHS discount isn’t great but I appreciate times are hard for the hospitality industry. On my most recent visit, the caramel latte tasted like the coffee had been burnt. I ordered the rosti royale. The rosti was soaked in oil and it just wasn’t great. It’s the first time I’ve not finished my meal here. More junior staff members don’t have the same customer service delivery and rapport. The young south asian waitress is particularly bad and comes across as quite rude despite not being very knowledgeable. I have been served by her on two separate occasions and had issues both times with her manner. I’d like to state that I am a very polite and friendly customer who is hyper aware of how I interact having previously worked in retail myself. Sad to say I can’t see myself coming back now”
