Quick info
About Tea Hive
Tea Hive is a family-run cafe at 53 Manchester Rd in Manchester, where the owners work in the cafe themselves. The cakes are made in house, with vegan and gluten free options, and celebration cake orders are taken for those marking an occasion. The tea list offers a wide selection, including loose leaf teas. Afternoon tea sits on the menu alongside a cream tea of scone, clotted cream and jam. Breakfast and brunch are served, and a light lunch deal pairs a sandwich and soup with a slice of cake. A limited number of tables welcome dogs.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often point to the cakes made in house, with a wide spread of vegan and gluten free slices that one vegan reviewer calls rare to find baked on site. The scone with clotted cream and jam in a cream tea and the afternoon tea, described as generous and accommodating of dietary needs, come close behind. Breakfast gets its own praise: a huge sausage and bacon bap with a choice of white, brown or gluten free bread and local sausages, plus beans on toast and scrambled eggs. A light lunch of sandwich, soup and a slice of cake also gets a mention, along with a large tea selection. Portions are called big throughout, and the owners and staff are described as warm and welcoming. The one complaint is that food can arrive slowly when the cafe is busy, though the reviewer who raises it says the friendly owners made the wait easy. One reviewer notes only a handful of tables allow dogs, and the dog they brought was given a bowl of water.

“Been coming here for years. The beans on toast is just the best! Love the cake variety including a selection of vegan, gluten free etc. Food delivery can be a little slow when busy, but totally understandable and the owners are so warm and kind that the atmosphere makes the wait easy.”

“Me and my friend came here. The food is what you would expect from a cafe but they seem to put a less generic flair to it. We both got a sausage and bacon bap and requested a fried egg on it and were offered three choices of bread - white, brown and gluten free. It was huge. The bread was nice and very thick. It was toasted just the way I like it. The sausages are local and were really tasty. The bacon was also very nice and the friend egg was perfectly done. My friend got a cappuccino which she enjoyed. The staff are nice and friendly and there's seating either indoors or outdoors. We sat outside and it was nice to people watch. I definetly think it beats the usual greasy spoon cafes.”
