Quick info
About Wolf at the Door
Wolf at the Door is a Korean food bar in Manchester's Northern Quarter, at 30-32 Thomas St. The menu includes a Korean cheesesteak sub, a Korean fried chicken burger and bao buns with vegan duck, banh mi tofu or spam tofu fillings. Asian and Korean small plates sit alongside them, so the kitchen suits a few shared dishes with a drink. Soju is on the drinks list next to cocktails, wine and craft beer, and a happy hour runs as well. The room has a dive bar look and is small, with about 25 seats.

Customer Review Summary
Bao buns are the most frequent draw, with the vegan duck version singled out by one reviewer for its chewy, sweet and salty balance, ahead of the banh mi tofu. Close behind are the Korean cheesesteak sub, which one diner called unbelievable and another found delicious but wanting something extra, and the Korean fried chicken burger. Chips and loaded fries also come up, though one reviewer found the chips slightly oily and quick to go cold. Cocktails are described as a bit spenny, one diner has yet to find one they like, and another wanted more craft beer on tap. The spam tofu bao underwhelmed one reviewer. The most serious complaint is a very long wait for four small bao buns and some cauliflower when the bar was not busy. Staff are called friendly and helpful. When chips were forgotten they were quickly rectified, and another table had a wrong order swapped after payment.

“i do like this place and went before a couple years ago, came back last week and took my girlfriend telling her it's good. didn't expect to wait nearly an hour for them to make 4 tiny bao buns and some cauliflower. therefore i'm giving them a 1 star because what the hell are they doing in that kitchen??? it wasn't even busy”

“The food was exquisite. Some of the best vegan chicken I've had, and exploding with flavour. Roughly £30 for a vegan sub, vegan curry, a duck bao, tofu taco and drinks. We even ordered the wrong food, but the wait staff were able to chain it for us after payment had been made. Very helpful and welcoming. Atmosphere was rather quiet, could've been a bit clearer that the place was actually open, but we arrived shortly after the doors had opened. Small things, great diner! Highly, HIGHLY recommend x”

“The flavour profiles of the food here was delectable. We had the bao buns, chips and winnnnnggggssss! Our chips were forgotten but this was quickly rectified. I would have liked more craft beer 🍺 on tap but overall a nice place with great food.”

“5 star service and food! Worth the money and would come again for sure. Really friendly staff too - only criticism would be that chips have a slighty oily taste and go cold quite quickly and cocktails are a bit spenny, think deals on them could be great. Otherwise - great experience! Thanks wolf at the door!”
