About The Sheldon Arms
The Sheldon Arms is a carvery pub at 2 Lord Sheldon Way in Manchester, just off Junction 23 of the M60. The daily rotisserie and carvery offers a choice of a few meats carved by an assistant, while the rest is laid out buffet style for guests to help themselves. Gammon is part of the carvery, honey roast carrots come alongside it, and the gravy is bottomless. The kitchen serves breakfast as well as lunch and dinner, and the bar pours Cask Marque-accredited ales. The dining room is large, with plenty of seats for groups sitting down to a roast. A Travelodge sits next door.

Customer Review Summary
The carvery is what most reviewers come for, with a choice of meats carved by an assistant and the rest laid out buffet style. The gammon draws the most praise, described as moist and flavourful with thick slices, and diners also single out the tender beef, honey roast carrots and bottomless gravy. Close behind are the cheese pie, called incredible, and the Manchester tart, while one reviewer enjoyed a breakfast with fried eggs and independent coffee. Staff are repeatedly called friendly and helpful, including with how to order. Complaints are few but specific. One diner found the steak and ale pie overly rich, with the pastry on the base not fully cooked, and thought the meal expensive. Another felt an evening portion looked like a kids meal, lager was called pricey, and one chair wobbled while some furniture seemed dated. One reviewer suggests booking on big days such as Father's Day. A coeliac diner was told everything on the carvery was fine except the pigs in blankets and the Yorkshire pudding, and even the gravy was gluten free.

“Lovely bistro pub with a cosy home like feel and wonderful staff. The carvery was especially welcoming and I have to recommend the gammon, it was so moist and flavourful. Coupled with the beautiful honey roast carrots and bottomless gravy, it's a perfect lunch. Just be sure to leave room for dessert as the Manchester tart is amazing!”

“We visited mid week for a birthday Carvery roast dinner and wasn't disappointed. There's a few meats to choose from and we had a couple of each which was carved by an assistant, the rest is buffet style so you can help yourself. There's lots of choice. One of our party is coeliac and she was advised that she could have everything except the pigs in blankets and the Yorkshire pudding. Even the gravy was gluten free. Win win. The staff were very friendly and helpful when advising us how to order. This was our first visit. For a Wednesday it was busy, but the place is huge so you won't have trouble finding a seat and we didn't queue for the carvery either. The customers were a mix of family groups, couples and a number of individuals. I'd happily come and dine alone here. It's very relaxed. What a find!”
