About Railway Hotel
The Railway Hotel is a traditional pub in Manchester, at 2 Manshaw Rd just off Ashton Old Road. The bar serves Joseph Holt's beer, and the venue doubles as a sports bar and an events space. A DJ plays on Friday and Saturday nights, giving the weekend a music night alongside the beer. The pub opens daily, so there is no closed day to plan around. Dogs are welcome, so owners can bring them along.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return to the cheap Holts beer, served in what several call a friendly, traditional local with a good atmosphere. Close behind is the welcome from the landlord, the couple running the place and the locals, with one visitor describing directions, taxi advice and a sandwich from a customer, and a cyclist mentioning a refreshing pint and a packet of Monster Munch. Others describe it as a nice stop off for a bike ride or an adventure. The criticism is more serious than the praise suggests. One reviewer reports feeling stared at and unwelcome because of the colour of their skin and left within minutes, while another says the current landlady enforces rules unevenly, that fights and arguments are frequent, and that a young woman behind the bar gives people dirty looks. A third reviewer found one toilet seat in bad shape and a leaking urinal with a bucket under it, and says the pub needs a refurb. The one thing the unhappy regular still credits is the DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.

“I stopped in here waiting to get into my air b and b around the corner because I was early What a friendly little pub the landlord and a lady customer gave me directions in which to catch the best bus to get to the etihad as I was going to a concert for 3 nights and of what taxi company to ring .The lady even brought me a sandwich as she only lived next door to the pub as I had a bit of journey Very friendly people I would have gone in again but just didn’t get the chance to. “Friendly local Joseph holts boozer. Nice stop off on a bike ride of the area. Barman was sound as were the locals. Refreshing pint and a packet of monster munch to keep me going. Impressive building. 🍻 🚲 🚊”

“walked into this pub hoping for a relaxing drink, but from the moment I stepped in, I felt completely unwelcome. The stares I got from both staff and customers were intense and uncomfortable — like I didn’t belong there just because of the color of my skin. It was clear I was being judged and singled out for no reason other than racism. No one greeted me or even acknowledged me properly. The atmosphere was cold and hostile, and I felt unsafe just standing there. I didn’t even stay to order anything ,I left within minutes. This place clearly isn’t welcoming to everyone, and if you’re not white, I wouldn’t recommend going in at all. Disgraceful in this day and age.”

“Used to be my local until the current landlady took over, she's always picking and choosing the rules and letting some customers break them while immediately barring others for doing the same, fights and arguments are always happening, and her girlfriend is always causing trouble with customers, also the young dark haired girl who works on the bar is always giving people dirty looks and looking down at them and has a very rude attitude which makes people feel unwelcome. Pub is definitely going down hill. Gave 2 stars because the only decent thing is the DJ on Friday and Saturday nights.”
