About The Sycamore, Ashton-Under-Lyne
The Sycamore sits on Stamford Square in Ashton Under Lyne, a pub that also runs as a bar, restaurant, and live music venue. The recently refurbished interior houses an open mic night alongside the regular music programme, and the food side is taken seriously, with rag pudding on the menu as a regional touch alongside butter chicken curry, hunters chicken, and a Sunday roast. Chips are made in house, and dessert covers ice cream sundaes. Dogs are welcome, and the back of the house includes a function room for groups. The format shifts through the week from midweek meals to weekend live sets, with a private space for larger bookings.

“I stopped ordering hunters chicken from pubs as it always ended up being rubbish. This place did not disappoint, it was really good! Huge portion was a double bonus. I'll certainly come back to scope out the rest if the menu as all the other food being served looked great.”

“First time having food since the re ferb, the pub itself looks amazing, love the decor, The menu has some amazing food on, we went for the special , butter chicken curry with chips/rice, and hubby had rag pudding. Both were amazing! Portions very big, the chips all homemade everything was lovely, then had ice cream sundae again amazing couldn’t fault. We will defo be back and hubby wanted to say how good his pint of bitter was. Hard to get a decent pint these days. Staff were lovely and very pleasant . Even loved they had a dog menu maybe we will take an extra little guest next time haha 😊”

“I went here for the open mic night. This pub has recently been refurbished. The pub over all looks great. Unfortunately I think I was either overcharged or the price of a lime and soda was ridiculously expensive. I was charged £2.80 for half a pint of lime and soda. I think this is when a whole bottle of lime is about 80 pence. I usually pay in other pubs between 80 pence and a pound. I won't be returning. I did go back to this pub and received my free pint as promised. Only to find that thr price of one of these drinks is £2.40 for a small one and £2.80 for a large one. So the owner lied about it costing £1.20 a pint. The bar staff even showed me the till entry. I didn't expect to single handedly pay for the refurbishment.”
