Customer Review Summary
Small plates draw the most attention, with reviewers naming the lamb rump with creamed watercress, the pickled pear and chicory salad, chickpeas on hummus, buttery prawns with a kick, and dates with whipped cheese. Others single out the mackerel, the beetroot, the chicken, a schnitzel and the focaccia. Sunday roast comes close behind, with the beef, cheesy cauliflower cheese and rich gravy praised, and sticky toffee pudding added as a finish. Wines and cocktails get steady credit, and one pair enjoyed watching drinks being made from seats at the bar. Two reviewers held wedding celebrations here and say the team looked after the guests and the planning. Service is described as friendly, with someone always nearby for another plate or drink. The one caution comes from a pair who ordered six or seven plates and found it a little too much, suggesting five would have been enough. One table of four ordered a veggie roast, two beef and a gluten-free beef, and all of them were rated highly.

“Perfect vibes all round 🩵 Allie was the perfect host. We only came in for “one” but ended up staying for 4 because we felt so well looked after + all the staff were great! Frank and Jack S were great on the bar. In the words Arnold Schwarzenegger, I’ll be back”

“An absolute hidden jem, if you’re looking for a delicious, hearty roast dinner this is the place for you. The beef was cooked to perfection, beautifully cooked vegetables, cheesy cauliflower cheese all topped off with a delicious rich gravy! Very friendly staff, great music in the background and amazing selection of wines. This is my new favourite eatery for a Sunday lunch. Bravo! Oh… and the sticky toffee pudding is to die for.”

“The small plates were delicious! We had between 6-7 plates between the two of us which was a little too much for us, probably 5 plates would have been enough. I highly recommend the lamb rump with creamed watercress - it was super tender and seasoned well; and the pickled pear and chicory salad - unique and appetising!”

“We had a wonderful evening at the Jane Eyre - we took a chance having not booked in advance and were looked after from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. Wines were delicious, food spectacular - the schnitzel was the tastiest thing I’ve eaten all year - and the service impeccable. Thanks so much for the team that looked after us and cooked such great food for us - we thoroughly enjoyed our seats at the bar watching the fantastic cocktails being prepared and people coming and going. Nothing could have been improved!”

“We had our wedding here a couple of months back and Charlie and the team could not have looked after us any better. Charlie made sure everything was planned perfectly. All of the guests were taken care of without us having to worry about it, and everyone absolutely loved the food and drinks. I would definitely recommend The Jane Eyre for events and weddings, especially if you want to be able to relax and enjoy yourself on the day!”
