Quick info
About Royal Oak
The Royal Oak is a Greene King pub on Barlow Moor Rd in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester, with a large open-plan layout arranged around a central bar. Rock n Roll Bingo, a quiz night and an open mic night fill the events line-up, and the open mic runs weekly. The bar pours real ales and real ciders, including Greene King IPA and Golden Hen, and passion fruit cocktails sit on the drinks list too. The kitchen turns out classic pub dishes and small sharing plates, with roast dinners served. TVs show football, with Sky Sports and TNT Sport coverage, and pool tables stand at the rear of the room. Dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
Live music draws the most praise, with reviewers describing an open mic night, a singer and guitarist, and a weekly line-up that includes a Thursday quiz and Monday rock n roll bingo. Passion fruit cocktails and the Sunday roast get specific mentions, and several call the pub grub and drinks good value, with friendly, helpful staff behind the bar. One visitor enjoyed a pint of Golden Hen and noted real ciders in a large, bright room opened up around the central bar, with TVs and pool tables to the rear. Football is the other draw, and two reviewers say the pub suits watching a match with a drink better than a family meal. Food service is the recurring complaint. Two diners describe very long waits in a pub that was not busy, with food that was lukewarm or nothing to rave about. One says plates were put down without anyone checking who had ordered what, and the order had to be chased up twice.

“Met up with Family for Birthday celebration. Not been in for a long while, however,I was pleasantly surprised with the improvements made since my last visit. Great atmosphere with an eclectic mix of local customers and live entertainment (singer/guitarist). Ordered food late on,no problem...prices are very competitive, including the large variety of drinks on offer. Staff were excellent and very helpful...all in all a great experience 👍🏻”
