About The Beer House
The Beer House is a craft beer pub in Manchester at 57 Manchester Rd, formerly named Marble Beerhouse. The bar pours cask, keg, bottle and tins, with six real ales on offer. A big screen shows the beer list through Untappd, so drinkers can see the range at a glance. A couple of Marble brewery beers remain, including Manchester Bitter. The interior is long and thin, and it holds board games such as Exploding Kittens, a retro console and a book exchange for anyone who wants something to do alongside a pint. The pub is on the Chorlton Ale Trail and is listed in the Good Beer Guide.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers come mainly for the beer selection, with cask, keg, bottle and tins on offer and a couple of Marble brews still served, including the Manchester Bitter. One reviewer calls the Atlas Easy Pale the best pint they have ever had, another praises a superb pale ale, and a third lists Vault City's Strawberry Sundae sour and a Snailbank cider. Close behind is the staff, described as friendly, helpful and passionate about beer, with one reviewer calling prices very reasonable. The shabby chic, living room feel, eclectic playlist and board games like Exploding Kittens also come up, and the pub is described as good for a solo pint or a night out with friends. The caveat is inconsistency. One longtime regular says the cask has been uneven since Marble sold up, calls the lager selection poor and the Guinness rubbish, and finds some staff rude. Another describes a bartender who refused to serve a group of seven while the bar was still open, though another staff member apologised. Another reviewer describes a publican who started pouring four tasters from a vague description of their tastes.

“Cask beer just not up to scratch too often these days sadly. Drank in here for over 20 years - was my local for almost a decade way back. Lager selection is poor, Guinness is rubbish & Cask is very inconsistent since Marble sold up.Some of the staff are truly awful and so rude. Sad”

“25/04/24: Vault City: Strawberry Sundae sour and Snailbank Apple Hog cider 29/07/23: Pentrich Brewery: All Eyes Fixed 4.5% and Vocation Brewery: Chop & Change (Citra) pale ale 4.6% 2706/23: we had the Marble: Pint [photo update] 08/10/22: great choice of craft ales, cask & keg, bottle and tins available. Lovely shabby chic, with a living room kinda feel. Very friendly staff that were more than helpful in choosing the right beer for the moment. A great place to relax and enjoy a beer. One of the must go to places on the Chorlton Ale Trail. Formerly named Marble Beerhouse, it still features a couple of Marble brews. Opened in 2000, but became under new management in 2018. Has it's beer list on big screen in a replenishing screensaver via Untappd.”

“I would never usually leave such a negative review, but we had such an awful experience with one member of staff that shook/upset us so much I felt I needed to. My siblings/partners (7 of us) came in after our family dinner on the night of Saturday 20th Dec. We were at the bar trying to work out our orders as two of us wanted to treat the others - it was a bit of a faff and we were definitely merry, but we were the only ones at the bar and there was nothing untoward. The small white guy behind the bar immediately took issue with us and rudely said he would only serve us one drink. The bar was still open for another 1h 40mins so, confused, I asked why, and he said because my brother-in-law was walking off (he was going to find a table….) and my sister was gurning (she was absolutely not on drugs). Stunned, I challenged this, then he refused to serve us entirely. It was completely bizarre, and, ironically, we all suspected that HE may be on drugs - he was very on edge, I suspect, projecting onto us. As we were leaving I passed on our experience to the female staff who was very understanding and apologetic so I suspect this is an issue with this one grim employee rather than the whole establishment. Such a shame, total rudeness for absolutely no reason and it really affected our night (my sister in particular was really upset by what he’d said). I would STRONGLY URGE management to investigate this incident/individual as you should not have people like this interacting with members of the public.. especially at Christmas :(((”

“Been here loads, swiftly becoming my new local, always got a great selection of beers both local and far. Staff are always excellent and the place is great for both a solo pint on a quiet day and a night out with a group of mates. Would recommend to anyone looking for either, can’t recommend this place more and will always return when i go past.”
