Customer Review Summary
Service draws the most praise, with reviewers describing servers as friendly, attentive and helpful, and several noting that individual servers made an evening feel special. The food follows closely. The chicken is called some of the best in Manchester, the broccoli mac and cheese earns repeated mentions, and diners also point to the cabbage and a focaccia that pleased a vegan guest. Reviewers like the cocktails too, including a Margarita with honey, a Paddington made with marmalade and several non-alcoholic options, alongside music and a relaxed atmosphere where conversation is easy. One reviewer suggests booking, since walk-ins were not being taken on a previous attempt. The one negative is detailed and concerns private hire. A reviewer says they were stood up at a viewing, then had their wedding after party cancelled about a month and a half beforehand because of a double booking, with only sister venues offered instead. Elsewhere, diners recall servers who made a birthday feel special.

“Absolutely fantastic. The cocktails were really cleverly created, with some brilliant twists on the classics — like adding a touch of honey to a Margarita, which worked perfectly. The food was delicious, but what really makes this place stand out is the service. Every member of staff who interacted with us gave us incredible hospitality. They were engaging, friendly and attentive, and you could tell they genuinely cared about making sure we had a great experience. Great food and drinks are one thing, but service like this is what makes you want to come back. Highly recommended.”

“If you are looking to hire this venue for a private event, please think again. The communication from the company was poor from the start and i should have walked away when i booked a half day off work with my fiancé to attend a viewing here with our contact managing the booking only to be stood up by them after travelling in for the viewing - mistakes happen so we stupidly looked over this lack of planning and professionalism. We did end up booking the venue for our wedding after party as the venue itself does look very cool, the party wasn’t the biggest so we only hired half the venue. A little while later we receive an ominous email from them asking for a call, we accepted and gave times for a call the same day and i believe my partner tried to ring them after they didn't contact us and we heard nothing after that. A whole month later we decided to follow up with them to understand what this call was about, we were contacted by someone entirely different to be told that they had “accidentally” double booked the venue and decided to cancel our booking in favour of the larger booking. They claim the other person had booked first but provided no evidence and it was extremely unlikely, when the booking was allocated on their system it should have shown that it wasn’t available at the time, yet nothing was flagged. So now we are a month and a half away from our wedding party, we aren't local to Manchester so guests are travelling from as far as London so everyone has already booked hotels and train tickets etc so i can’t even change the date and all they can do is offer us their sister venues that are nothing like what we booked and not what we wanted in the slightest. It stinks of greed. We have decided to book with a different venue entirely out of principle and upon telling friends our experience with this we have just found out a friend of someone attending has also just had this exact same experience with the company who handles the venue hire at one of their sister venues and has lost her actual wedding venue and deposit as a result, and even tried to cash gouge them and force them into the same rubbish venue they offered me, they even had friends call up and enquire about the venue who got given way cheaper quotes to prove they were being extorted. Most people on here will be looking at this for just a drink and a meal but if you are looking to use them for private hire please think again as they will do anything to screw you out of money it seems, there js absolutely no ethics in their approach to business. This place is owned by Shiko Group (the entity that are behind this screw up) and they also own Stables Tavern, Lawn Club, Courts Club, The Stables and The Dome all within Manchester. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.”

“Great lunch at Side Street. Best Mac and cheese I've ever had with a really tasty non-alcoholic cocktail. There were several options for my wife, who is vegan and she really enjoyed the focaccia. It was nice and cool on a hot day and it's family friendly, there is a lift for our pram. Great service from Prima who was really helpful. Good tunes and decor too.”

“Absolutely incredible experience! From the moment we arrived, Sarah made us feel so welcome and set the tone for a fantastic evening. Our server, Laila, was wonderful, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely lovely. The food was outstanding, with so many delicious vegan and vegetarian options to choose from. (Would highly recommend the cabbage!) The mocktails and cocktails were equally amazing, and the music and atmosphere created such a vibrant vibe. Everything about the evening was perfect. Couldn’t recommend Side Street Studio enough 🩷”
