Customer Review Summary

The criticism centers on consistency. One diner found the chicken skewer burnt with little chicken, and when they complained the waiter promised to check, then never returned to the table. Another calls the gammon thin, greasy, and overcooked, and says standards are slipping, with the nachos gone from the fixed price menu and desserts unchanged for months. A busy room brought a long wait for food. One lunch visitor describes an eye roll over a menu mix-up, then sausage and mash arriving without peas, which were brought over afterward.

“Visited yesterday, Food arrived fairly quickly and was hot, the gammon really needs looking at as it is very thin, greasy and very often well over cooked ! My dog wasn’t bothered though. Removing the nachos from the fixed price menu is annoying and the desserts also need a shake up as they have been the same for months ! Standards are starting to slip again.”

“Ordered the chicken skewer it arrived burnt to a crisp with a mountain of salad and absolutely nowhere near enough chicken. I’ve had the skewer from here numerous times and it’s never been that sized portion I told the waiter I wasn’t happy with the meal and why and he told me to wait 2 minutes went to the kitchen came back and told me it’s a pre portioned size to which I said I’m not happy with the meal as it’s 15£ and wouldn’t be suitable for a children’s meal he then said wait again and didn’t come back to the table to resolve the issue after that.”

“Dad and I moved back into the local area recently and re-found the pub as our local. After 2 maybe 3 visits, Emma, Emma and Melissa, each, recognised us and asked if we would be having our regular (now standard) orders, and spoke highly of the benefits of the Ember Inns App which we’ve since downloaded and use every time we come into the pub. The food’s been lovely every time we’ve eaten here, highly recommend the Garlic mushrooms and calamari🤤 Fast forward to now, and we’re both friendly with all the staff, on first name basis’ with everyone and enjoy it whenever we come in for a wind down! 10/10”

“If you're looking for a chill spot with great service, you have to check out The Barton Arms. We recently had a fantastic time there, thanks in large part to Kameron, who really made our experience memorable. We brought our pug, Belle, along for the ride, and Kameron set us up with a dog-friendly table right away. It was perfect for our little crew, especially since we were catching up with friends from Mexico. As for the food, we went for the Steak & Ale Pie, which was hearty and delicious, while our friend opted for the Red Wine Lasagne. Both dishes were spot-on, and paired nicely with the cozy atmosphere. Kameron also popped by to take our drink orders and made sure we were all good throughout the meal. He even asked if we wanted desserts, which was a lovely touch, though we were too full to indulge! Overall, if you're after a laid-back evening with tasty food and friendly service, definitely swing by The Barton Arms and ask for Kameron. He’ll take care of you!”

“Came here today after moving up from London, have to say it was a great experience with such lovely staff. Came in expecting average pub food and service but we were surprisingly met with a young comedic bartender telling us her stories of recent nights out for her birthday, and said she makes the best martinis. We gave her a chance as she was super friendly and she stood by her word, they were one of the best I have ever had. The food was surprisingly great, we ordered the mixed grill and it was up to standard in size and taste, definitely recommend. Definitely coming here again after this experience and hope to see the staff again soon. Lovely time. Thank you for the meal.”
