About Worsley Old Hall

Worsley Old Hall is a pub on Worsley Park in Manchester, housed in a 17th-century country house with wood-panelled rooms, old beams and leather chairs. Large gardens and grounds surround the hall, with golf nearby. The kitchen serves British pub food, including lamb shoulder and scallops alongside salads, and the bar pours a range of real ales and local beers. Breakfast and coffee are served as well as lunch and evening meals. Orders are placed at the bar, and staff bring coffee and food to the table. A private dining room serves groups, and dogs are welcome. Drivers enter their registration on a tablet at the car park entrance.

Customer Review Summary

The old hall itself draws the most comment, with reviewers praising its history, wood panelling, leather chairs and old beams, and calling it stunning, gorgeous and well preserved. Close behind are the large back gardens, which several describe as lovely, with one mentioning the view of the steeple and another calling it a great place for kids, dogs and ales. Food earns steady praise, including fresh scallops, a moist lamb shoulder, lamb and beef salads, and desserts one reviewer calls a piece of heaven. The local beers, real ales and wines also get mentions. Table staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive, and a supper club reports excellent service on its third visit. The main criticism comes from one reviewer who found bar staff often ignored customers while sorting out the bar. The same reviewer was never told about a new car park system requiring registration on an entrance tablet, and only learned of it when a distraught visitor came in. That reviewer suggests staff ask at the bar whether registration has been entered.

“Staying at the Delta Worsley Hotel. Walk 2 minutes to enjoy this garden oasis. The building (hall) is impressive but once you step out to the back gardens it fuels your senses and is magical. Great place for kids, dogs and ales. Loved it.”

“My friend and I come here for coffee and breakfast about once a month. It’s a great place to meet up, love the old building. The staff who bring the coffee and food are great and so polite. The ones at the bar who you place the order with not the best. They will often ignore you if they are sorting out the bar etc. You have to wait and catch their eye or when they can be bothered to come over. They have just implemented a new system whereby you enter your registration onto a tablet. There are a few signs up in the car park, we found out as we were leaving. The staff didn’t bother to mention this new system that had started the previous day. We found out when a very distraught woman came in and said I haven’t checked in. We had no idea what she was talking about. No signs or anything in the bar and you barely notice the tablet in the entrance. Maybe signs on the bar and the staff telling customers might help a lot. The signs are not very noticeable in the car park and there are only a few when you go looking for them. Please let your customers know when they order at the bar, ask if they have entered their registration in.”

“This is by far the best pub I have been to in the U.K. A lot of parking spaces available (depending on the day) food was good, staff were really friendly and helpful. The bathroom impressed me, it’s very stylish, clean and tidy. A lot of history behind this building, 5*. A lovely scene!”

“The setting is superb - wood panelling, leather chairs, old beams. Service was courteous, friendly, and with a smile. The local beer was brilliant - recommend any of them. Food was amazing. Scallops to start were fresh and perfectly cooked. Lamb shoulder for main was incredibly tasty and moist. The ladies had a lamb salad and a beef salad and both were large, full of flavour and colour. Would not hesitate to recommend a visit. (Garden is large and wonderful as well).”
