About Hare & Hounds
On Shudehill in Manchester, Hare & Hounds is a Grade II-listed pub and CAMRA Heritage venue, found opposite the Shudehill bus and tram stop at number 46. The building keeps its historic tiled interior and a mottled tile frontage, and three rooms sit around the bar: a lobby, a rear lounge and a front vault. Joseph Holt's bitter is served on cask from the handpump, with a guest beer alongside, and Murphy's is also on offer. Old photos of Manchester hang on the walls. The pub has a piano and an afternoon sing-along, with sausage rolls available to go with a drink. It opens daily, and dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Holts bitter is the pint reviewers raise most. It is called well kept, and one reviewer had two pints of it alongside a guest beer. Another says the pub serves a mean pint of Murphy's. The Grade II-listed building draws comment too, from the tiled interior and mottled tile frontage to the three rooms around the bar and the old photos of Manchester on the walls. Several describe friendly staff, a friendly landlady and a knowledgeable bartender, and reviewers say drinks cost less than elsewhere in the city centre. The pub gets very busy on matchdays and after football, though one reviewer points to plenty of space in the side beer garden. The main complaint is range. One reviewer who stopped in for a pint found only lagers and generic beer, nothing special for their taste in ale. Another visitor recalls an afternoon with sausage rolls on offer and a piano sing along under way.

“A great pub situated in the Shudehill part of town, across the road from Shudehill bus and tram station. A great place to have drinks and rest up. The prices for drinks are cheaper than most places in the area and it can get full on Matchdays but plenty of space in the beer garden at the side. Lovely to look at the old photos of Manchester placed around the walls of the pub. Shameful that skyscrapers are dwarfing many of the pubs in the area.”

“Went in for a pint with the wife, but only really had lagers and generic beer on. Nothing special. Seems a good ub, but not our taste in ale.”
