Gardeners Arms
Quick info
About Gardeners Arms
Gardeners Arms is a Robinson's pub on Wythenshawe Rd in Manchester, next to a tram stop and near Wythenshawe Park. A live band plays on Friday and Saturday nights on a small stage, which gives the weekend a music slot, and the pub also runs karaoke nights. A games area holds a pool table and a dart board for anyone staying on after a drink. Guinness Draught sits on the drinks list, and the food side takes in Spagbal and Crumpets. Door staff check on entry for drinks brought in from outside. The interior has been refitted.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly bar staff and good beer are what reviewers praise most, with one visitor enjoying a pint of Unicorn while Old Tom was being pulled through. The refit gets credit for a cosy main room, a games room with a dart board, a small pool area and a large beer garden, and several note the toilets are clean. Karaoke and a live band on weekend nights draw approval, though one reviewer cautions that the band makes conversation difficult and another found the music a little loud at lunchtime. Opinions on food split, with one praising the steaks and breakfast while others saw only butties or no food. The recurring complaint is the welcome from the landlady and door staff. One reviewer calls the landlady rude for refusing to turn the heating on, leaving the pub freezing in winter, another heard she kicked out a group of teens at karaoke, and a third says a doorman was not doing his job. One parent describes his son being confronted over an empty Red Bull can he was holding until he found a bin.

“Lovely bar staff all the girls are ace. However, I choose not to visit now in the winter months as it’s absolutely freezing in there! Even with a coat on! The landlady refuses to put the heating on! I get it that it’s costly! But as paying customers you would expect a lil heat! She was so rude about it! And the poor bar staff won’t dare put it for fear of the landlady. So don’t go in winter you will get frostbite!”

“Good pub but I can totally agree with a recent review we were there same day for Sam fender concert , me and my son were about to enter and some little vile faced dyed blond hair women with a po-face started to have a go at my son because he was carrying a red bull can , she said you carnt bring that in here in a really rude manner then proceeded to say something else to him , I then said hey calm yourself down what’s up with ya , she then said you run a pub , really abrupt, no need just be polite , it’s people like her running pubs is the reason so many are shutting , customers are your lifeline love sort your attitude out , we came for a nice day it was an empty can of red bull he was drinking from the car , he was holding it till he found a bin . Otherwise all other staff great , pub was lovely”

“I live near the pub but this was my first visit. Really friendly staff and customers, seemed to know each other. They don’t do food as far as I could see. The decor was nice and colours on trend, the toilets were decent and clean. Would definitely go again and maybe try again in the summer. I believe they have beer garden. Quite near Wythenshawe park so a walk and a pint, not a bad idea.”

“Have a lovely beer garden shame I can’t say the same about the horrible woman who was on the door. She seemed to have something against us as we are a younger group, had a sour face didn’t even say hello instead asked if I was smuggling drink in then asked another member of our party to throw away a bottle of water which we had no issue with and then when they went to throw it away this woman on the door started saying we’re a business we don’t tolerate this, none of our party had done anything wrong. I also asked if they were serving food to which the staff seemed to have no idea what was going on. The place made us all feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome when we were paying customers. Do not recommend for younger people.”
