About Harrington Arms Gawsworth
Harrington Arms Gawsworth is a country pub in Gawsworth village, Macclesfield, set in a former Queen Anne farmhouse and dating to the 17th century. The building is listed and keeps original features from the 1800s, and a bar fire burns in winter. Food is ordered at the bar and brought to the table. The pies come with mash, and the steak and ale pie sits alongside a cheese and onion option. A pub roast is served for Sunday lunch, and Weston's cider is on tap at the bar. Dogs are welcome inside.

Customer Review Summary
The beer garden is what reviewers raise most, described as a sun trap and one of the nicest they have sat in, with dogs welcome and a bar fire inside in winter. Food comes close behind: the steak and ale pie and the cheese and onion pie with buttery mash and cheesy sauce, the flame grilled beef burger, fish and chips described as crunchy and not greasy, and a fish pie and chicken fricassee. Several praise the friendly staff, and one notes they confirmed allergies before ordering. Wing Wednesday wings, cider on tap on a hot day, and well kept pints also get mentions, along with original features inside the old building. The main caveat comes from one reviewer who found the steak and ale pie slow to arrive, served in a bowl that looked small at first, and a little expensive, though the garden softened the wait. Another says the Sunday lunch is something to talk about and advises saving space for pudding.

“Just stopped in for a couple of pints which were well kept and went down a treat. Fabulous old pub with a host of original features. Aiming to return next week for a meal.”

“I really enjoyed my meal here. I had the pitta bread and hummus which was a decent serving for the price (4.50). For my main I had a steak and ale pie which was superb. I am told the pies come from the Great Northern Pie Company. I must say I personally would prefer to be served my dinner on a plate and not in a bowl, and at first glance it appeared to be portioned on the smaller side, but it was more than enough to quench my hunger. The main did take nearly 1 hour to come - a little long to be honest but in the nice weather conditions it was nice to just sit out in the back for a while and did not negatively effect my experience. I do think the meal was a little on the expensive side at £21.50 and am probably more in the middle of 4 and 5 stars but gave them 5.”

“Excellent pub with great food. Beer garden is the best for miles. Listed building so very authentic. Nice and cozy bar fire in the winter. Very dog friendly. Lots of original features from the 1800's. Weston's cider on tap for a hot day. Brilliant place. 👏🍻”

“Great pub. Staff are friendly polite and efficient. Love the cosy rooms inside and fabulous outside/garden area.. Just had one of the best pub roasts ever at the weekend.”

“Love love love! We stumbled across this charming pub on a complete whim and love it! It’s got a gorgeous big beer garden that’s a total sun trap, and they were doing wing Wednesday’s so had delicious wings to tuck into with a drink! We also ordered meals (fish pie and chicken fricasse) which were stunning. Really friendly vibe too! Definitely be coming back again”
