Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the hearty pub food, with fish and chips, topped chips with rump steak, and beef and mushroom stroganoff singled out, plus huge onion rings. A Sunday roast and a steak and ale pie also get praise. One finds the burger bland for its price. The beer garden's play area and live music on a Saturday please families, and staff are called friendly.

“I recently visited Church House and had a really enjoyable experience. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. The pub was also very clean and had a lovely atmosphere. I ordered the topped chips, which came with rump steak, peppercorn sauce and crispy onions. The portion was very generous, and everything was absolutely delicious. The flavours worked really well together, and I was very impressed with the quality and portion size. The total bill came to £18.95, which I thought was very reasonable considering the generous portion and quality of the food. Overall, a great experience with friendly staff, good food and excellent value for money. I’d definitely recommend Church House and would happily visit again.”

“We visited The Church House on a Saturday without realising there was live music on, so it was a really pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was fantastic and the music added to what was already a lovely afternoon. I’m not sure if it’s a regular Saturday event, but we’d definitely time another visit around it if it is. We sat outside where there’s plenty of bench seating, some higher tables with stools and a small play area for children, making it a great spot to relax if the weather’s nice. For food, we ordered the fish and chips and a burger. The fish and chips were really enjoyable – the batter was crisp and light, and the chips were cooked well. The only thing I’d have liked was a wedge of lemon to finish the dish off. The burger, unfortunately, was a bit underwhelming. It was quite bland and, considering the price, didn’t offer the same value as the fish and chips. A special mention has to go to the onion rings, which were huge and properly cooked with a crispy coating. Service throughout was quick and friendly, and the staff made us feel very welcome. Overall, it’s a real local gem with a great atmosphere and we’d happily return.”

“Steak Chips here were to die for, proper crispy on the outisde soft on the inside. To be honest even my kids fries were just as good. Steak and Ale pie was gorgeous. And I'm now watching my son tuck into his strawberry ice-cream.”

“Had a delicious beef & mushroom stroganoff. The beef was lean and fell apart. The sauce was creamy and had a warm mustard taste. My wife had a crispy beef salad. Again, very tasty. The portions were generous. The staff were lovely and the service was prompt. We'll be going back to sample the Sunday lunch. Friends of ours also went after our recommendation and enjoyed their food.”
