About Dildar Restaurant

On Sundon Park Rd in Luton, Dildar Restaurant serves Indian cuisine with a menu that runs to 13 dishes, including Matar Paneer and sharing platter starters. Booth seating fills the room alongside modern artworks. A step-free entrance suits visitors with mobility needs, and table service brings orders from the kitchen to the table. The restaurant opens daily for evenings only, and booking ahead is recommended, particularly for weekends when it gets busier. Those wanting to eat off site can order takeaway or have food delivered. Papadams are charged as an extra rather than included with the meal, and orange juice on the drinks list comes bottled rather than freshly squeezed. Parking near the restaurant is limited, so arriving diners may need to circle for a space before sitting down to order.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often center on long-running loyalty to the food itself, with several longtime regulars, some coming for over 30 years, praising dishes as consistently well cooked and reasonably priced, and one diner naming the matar paneer specifically, though a separate reviewer complains they were served chana instead and told it was the same dish. Close behind are strong marks for group dining and delivery, with one calling it among the best Indian cuisine they have tried and noting orders arrive on time with communication about delays. But a real split runs through the reviews: multiple diners describe bland or tasteless food, an orange juice compared to concentrate or "acid reflux," and a shared dip or papadams that were unexpectedly charged extra, met with staff reportedly dismissing it as "only £1.50." Service complaints recur too, from a waiter who repeatedly walked past an ignored customer to a delivery order remade incorrectly twice before a refund required an in-person collection, and one longtime customer whose reserved table was given away with no compensation offered. Parking near the restaurant is also mentioned as limited by a few visitors.

“I’m really disappointed with our recent visit to Dildar. This restaurant used to be a regular spot for us and we’d dine in or order takeaway, but after this experience we won’t be returning. …”

“Food was absolutely appalling, customer service was appalling, all they cared about was taking your money…. Even the coke had no gas. I strongly recommend you don’t go there.”

“A restaurant with a neutral and relaxed setting. It’s easy to sit down, enjoy your time, and leave feeling satisfied.”

“I’m writing this because the service at Dildar Restaurant was absolutely appalling and I don’t want anyone else wasting their time the way I did. Last time my wife came here for a takeaway it was fine, nothing special but at least it worked. Because of that, I stopped by this time expecting the same. What I got instead was some of the worst, most disrespectful service I’ve experienced in a long time. I was greeted by a waiter who told me to sit down and said he would take my order. Fine. I sat and waited. Then I watched the same waiter walk past me at least three times, fully aware I was sitting there, doing absolutely nothing, and still not taking my order. No “sorry”, no “one minute”, no acknowledgment at all — just completely ignored like I didn’t exist. I wasn’t asking for special treatment, just basic service. But after being ignored long enough, I stood up and walked out. That was the moment I decided I will never come back here again, not now, not in the future, not even as a quick stop on the way past. What made it worse is that I went to the place right next door instead, where I was treated properly, served immediately, and actually enjoyed both the food and the service. That contrast says everything. This place isn’t “busy” it just doesn’t care. If you value your time, your money, or being treated like a human being, avoid this place. There are better options literally a few steps away. I won’t be returning, and I won’t be recommending it to anyone.”
