Customer Review Summary

The complaints are specific and recurring. One reviewer found the Shawaya Mandi chicken extremely bitter and the beef biriyani overcooked, and said the waiter first answered that this is how it is served. Another called the Al-Faham dry and the paper dosa floppy, though staff waived the charge for the Al-Faham. Others cite bland, overly sweet butter chicken, overcooked Thanjavur biryani, soggy poppadam, a hot dining room and washrooms that looked uncleaned. A few call it overpriced, and one reviewer mentions bags of onions near the entrance.

“Very disappointing experience Had a really disappointing experience at Kerala Hut. We ordered **Shawaya Mandi and Beef Biriyani**, and unfortunately, the food was nowhere near what we expected. The chicken in the **Shawaya Mandi was extremely bitter and practically inedible**. We informed the waiter about it, but instead of taking the complaint seriously, he simply said, *“This is how we serve Shawaya Mandi.”* We then asked him if he would eat bitter chicken himself and asked him to try it. He agreed that it was bitter, which made his initial response even more disappointing. The **Beef Biriyani was also overcooked**, so overall the food quality was very poor. What made the experience even worse was the **attitude of the waiter**. Despite the poor quality of the food and our genuine complaint, there was no proper apology or attempt to address the issue. Even after serving the food again, there was no reassurance or effort to check whether everything was okay. Mistakes with food can happen, but the way a restaurant handles a genuine complaint says a lot about its customer service. Unfortunately, both the food and the service were disappointing. **Overall, a very poor experience. I wouldn’t recommend Kerala Hut based on this visit.**”

“I tried the Tawa Fish, Achayans Chicken Curry, and Naadan Chicken Curry with Kerala Porotta. The food was simple, tasty, and really good. Personally, I preferred the Achayans Chicken Curry and Tawa Fish the most. ❤️”

“It was our first time visiting this restaurant, and I must say the interior looks amazing, even if it could use a bit better maintenance.Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the decor. We ordered the paper dosa and the Al-Faham chicken. The paper dosa arrived completely floppy, lacking the signature crispness it is supposed to have. The Al-Faham chicken was incredibly dry, tasting as though it had just been reheated in a microwave. The staff were really polite and they did not charge for the Alfaham as we had complained. I would highly encourage the owner to either improve the quality of these dishes or remove them from the menu entirely if the kitchen cannot execute them properly. For the chef, I genuinely recommend trying the dosa at Shiloh or Rathiga here in Luton, and tasting the Al-Faham at the nearby Chai Link Resto Cafe. Experiencing how those local spots master these dishes could really help elevate the culinary skills here.”

“I genuinely wish there were a 0-star option. This was an extremely frustrating experience from start to finish. The restaurant was unbearably hot, and none of the air conditioning appeared to be working. Sitting there in the heat while eating hot biryani felt less like dining out and more like being grilled in a pizza oven. Avoid this place in summer unless you enjoy sweating through your meal. Poppadam was soggy, as if cooked ages ago. Chicken 65 was good, The Thanjavur biryani was equally disappointing. The rice was overcooked, over-steamed, and bland, with very little flavour despite being advertised as spicy. The quantity was decent, but quantity cannot compensate for poor food. Even the egg was served in incomplete broken chunks rather than a proper whole egg, which felt careless for the price charged. The juice was okay, but not cold or properly chilled, which made no sense in such a hot restaurant. Service was acceptable, but overall this place is overpriced and not worth the money. A very disappointing visit.”
