About The Smithfield - Luton Airport
The Smithfield is a British pub and restaurant at London Luton Airport in Luton, serving menu choices from 4 am. Real ales are its specialty, including a Golden IPA brewed exclusively for the pub by Greene King. The food runs from classic pub snacks and main plates to globally influenced dishes built around British produce. Breakfast comes as a big breakfast or a smaller plate with sausages, and Bloody Mary cocktails are on the list. The pub is walk-in, and staff seat guests at a table in one of the separate dining sections. Orders go in by QR code and table number, or at the bar. Some tables sit by the runway, where guests can watch planes.

Customer Review Summary
Friendly table staff are what reviewers mention most, with several praising individual servers as friendly, helpful and attentive, one of whom stopped for a chat. Food draws specific comments: the nachos are called gorgeous, the big breakfast earns praise for its sausages, and two Bloody Marys are described as nice and spicy, enjoyed at a table facing the runway. The breakfast bap with veggie bacon disappointed one diner, who called the bacon one of the worst they had had. Complaints about consistency carry real weight. One reviewer describes nearly every table still covered in dirty plates and glasses late in the afternoon, with a strong smell of fish, and bar staff who ignored a request for water. Another reports finding hair in their food twice, with waiters sighing at replacing plates and forgetting parts of the order. Others describe a long wait for a dirty table to be wiped, and QR code ordering with no instructions, so food arrived before the drink and cutlery. In two accounts, a different waitress stepped in, moving a diner into her section or granting a full refund.

“I got the breakfast bap with veggie bacon, veggie sausage, and avocado, with hash browns on the side. It wasn’t great. The veggie bacon was particularly bad, one of the worst ones I’ve had. But the place itself was nice.”

“Absolutely awful !! The waiters were absolutely terrible, not helpful at all and not apologetic one bit when we found hair in our food !! TWO TIMES !! They sighed when they had to change our plates !! Food was mid, and the waiters were not owning up to the fact that they forgot some parts of our orders !! (Which is alright, it happens, but a sorry would’ve been very much appreciated !!) Overall, don’t come to this place, you’ll be treated like garbage, by waiters who don’t care one bit what you’re asking for !! Shoutout to the marvelous waitress we had at the end who finally helped us and gave us a full refund for this shameful meal. You guys have amazing waitresses, but your waiters are awful. DONT COME TO THIS PLACE !!”

“It was almost 5:00 PM, and practically every table in the restaurant was still covered with dirty plates and glasses. At the far end of the dining area there was a strong smell of fish, making it obvious that the dishes had been sitting on the tables for hours without being cleared. Only one waitress approached us, not to welcome us or offer assistance, but to tell us that we were sitting in the wrong section of the restaurant and needed to move. When we pointed out that all the tables in the other section were also dirty and uncleared, she simply told us to wait until someone collected them or move the dirty plates ourselves. I then went to the bar to ask for some water. Meanwhile, there were four staff members behind the bar laughing among themselves and calling each other "losers." Not one of them acknowledged me or even looked in my direction. The staff attitude was terrible, and the cleanliness was even worse. Frankly, I don't even want to imagine what the kitchen looks like if the dining area is being maintained to this standard. The only thing that seemed to be working properly was charging £8 for a pint. Welcome to Luton Airport.”

“I was pleased to get seated without a wait, and the food was pretty good but the rest of the experience wasn't positive. I was seated at a table with no instruction on how to order. The table had no menu or number on it - it was only when the table next to me moved their plate I could see the QR code and number. After ordering the food arrived ahead of the ETA which was good but with no drink, cutlery or condiments. This soon followed with an empty salt shaker, a few minutes into my meal the drink showed up. The gentleman who was seated next to me was also not explained how to order, I advised him the QR code was under the menu. I'm sure with a little better management this place would be great.”
