About Hanoi Pho
Hanoi Pho is a Vietnamese restaurant in London, found at 179 Mare St, where sea bass and monkfish dishes sit on the menu next to the pho. The pho follows Northern tastes, so it comes out less sweet than the Southern style, and a beef version is available. Bun bo Hue, the Hue beef noodle soup, covers the central Vietnamese side of the noodle list. Bánh xèo, a crispy pancake, rounds out the dishes beyond the soups. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beef noodle dishes and pho, with the beef pho and Hue beef noodle soup praised as excellent and the beef in bun bo hue described as melting in the mouth. Close behind are the pork skewers with satay sauce, prawn spring rolls, crispy pancake, and glazed chicken wings, with the beef stew called gelatinous, hearty and aromatic. Several describe the food as authentic and cheap for what it is, and a few mention friendly, fast service and a waiter who explained how to eat the dishes. One reviewer notes the pho leans Northern and less sweet. The place is called no frills, with one saying it needs updating and another finding the interior generic. Complaints are scattered but specific: one diner found a dirty tea cup, an over-seasoned papaya salad, crab-free glass noodles and an oily Bánh Xèo, while another waited a long time for the bill and had to go up to ask for it. Another reviewer called the meal not cheap, and a family with two children said everything they ordered was fantastic.

“Food was good but service below par on this occasion. Took a long time waiting for the bill and then had to go up and ask to pay. If someone tells you the service wasn’t good you should also offer to take the service charge off the bill.”

“We had a quick dinner on a Tuesday before going to a gig in the nearby Moth club. It was quite, only a few customers . The atmosphere was somewhat unremarkable, with a generic interior that lacked character, but the dining experience was still pleasant, and the food was delicious. We tried the pork skewers with satay sauce , the prawn spring rolls, and the special noodles. The skewers took 10 minutes to arrive, but they were cooked to perfection. The spring rolls were bursting with flavour, filled with succulent prawns and fresh vegetables. These two dishes overshadowed the noodles, which didn't seem as flavorful. Generally, Hanoi pho was a pleasant surprise. I will definitely revisit and get some more of their skewers. The service was excellent, attentive, and polite throughout.”

“Delicious food. Lovely, relaxing atmosphere. Calm and professional service. Not cheap! £65 for 2 mains, 2 starters and 2 cold drinks”

“Best affordable and authentic Vietnamese food. A bowl of pho is only roughly £10 which is v cheap for what you get. Great service with v charismatic waiter! I come here regularly and would say it's the best food compared to its competitors on mare street. Fyi, the pho has more Northern tastes (less sweet than Southern).”

“This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. The food here was amazing, very cheap price compared to other Vietnamese restaurants I used to eat. The handsome waiter explained how to eat them properly really well to me. Especially beef pho and Hue beef noodle soup here are really excellent compared to Green Papaya restaurant. I will definitely come back in the future. A great experience.”
