Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beef pho, praising its rich, comforting broth and tender beef, with the duck soup and a special Bun Hue also described as deeply flavourful and authentic. Close behind come the char-grilled pork with vermicelli, the spicy tamarind beef, salt and pepper aubergines, sizzling king prawns and hot, crispy spring rolls. Many call the food authentic and home-cooked, with several noting generous portions and good value, and the family-run dining room is described as cozy and relaxed. One group of ten says the staff happily accommodated a birthday celebration, including a cake brought in. The main complaint comes from one reviewer who waited over 45 minutes for dishes in a quiet restaurant, found the pricey steamed sea bass disappointing, and described the steamed mixed vegetables as half a plate of chopped onions with vegetables that were not fresh. Another reviewer suggests starting with the starters when dining as a group, and one felt the cooking was slightly adjusted to European taste.

“Came to this family owned restaurant for the first time and it was sooo yummy!! As a fellow Viet I am quite picky with my food and this one certainly passed 🤩 Spring rolls were hot and crispy and the pho with beef was so tender and literally melted in my mouth yumm. Interior and vibe of the whole place is really cozy. Defo reccommend 😋😋”

“Delicious authentic food with generous portions. Rich flavours like the spicy tamarind beef. Delicate deeply flavourful broths like the Pho and Duck soup.”

“I’ve tried quite a few Vietnamese restaurants in the UK, but places like Hoi An and motherland honestly feel the most authentic to me. The food tastes like actual home-cooked Vietnamese food instead of a westernised version of it. The pho broth was rich and comforting, the iced coffee was perfect, and the whole atmosphere just felt warm and familiar. For a moment, it genuinely didn’t feel like I was in London anymore. If you’re Vietnamese living abroad, you’ll understand that feeling instantly.”

“Wow what an amazing experience. Firstly, the service was impeccable and the twins that served us were so incredible (and gorgeous might I add). Upon arrival, one feels the authenticity right away with the “mom and pop”-style atmosphere providing a cozy and relaxed environment (especially given that it is actually run by a husband and wife!). Now to the food. As I was a part of a group of 7 we were able to try a variety of different dishes. This was a great opportunity for us to get a great lay of the ground as it was all of our first times here (starters are a must here!). All in all, we had a wonderful time and I will definitely be returning when trying to show off to my friends about knowing a cool, authentic spot (seems great for a date too!).”

“Our favourite Vietnamese place. Viet Garden has such a welcoming, relaxed vibe, with amazing food and genuinely lovely staff. They recently accommodated a group of 10 of us for my wife’s birthday and were incredibly helpful — including being happy for us to bring in a birthday cake. The food was delicious as always, and the whole evening felt effortless and fun. Highly recommend and we will be back soon!”
