Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the salt and pepper squid, which comes up alongside the hot honey and feta dip as a starter that arrives full of flavour. Steak tartare, ham croquettes and yellowtail carpaccio also appear among the starters. Mains named include the truffle chicken Milanese, lamb skewers, ribeye and Tuscan cod, while the mango and caramel mousse and warm chocolate fondant lead the desserts. Drinks mentioned include Veuve Clicquot on the terrace, a mojito and an espresso martini. Service gets repeated praise, with diners describing staff as friendly and attentive, and several say it suited a meal before the theatre, including with children. The main criticisms are small: one reviewer finds the portions not that big, so a starter and a side are needed to feel full, which makes the meal more expensive, and another found the roast potatoes over-roasted in an otherwise good Sunday roast. One group of eight chose the set menu and was pleasantly surprised by the quality, finishing with light and fluffy tiramisu.

“Excellent Food in a Beautiful Setting We had a wonderful meal at Whitcomb’s at The Londoner and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The restaurant itself is beautiful — stylish, spacious and sophisticated, with a relaxed atmosphere. The tables are comfortably positioned, so you don’t feel crowded or as though you are sitting on top of other diners, which makes a real difference. The food was excellent. We started with the steak tartare and salt & pepper squid, both beautifully prepared and full of flavour. The steak tartare was particularly good, while the squid was tender with a lovely crispness. For the main courses, we had the truffle chicken Milanese and the lamb skewers. The chicken Milanese was delicious, generously portioned and the truffle added richness without overpowering the dish. The lamb skewers were beautifully cooked, tender and flavoursome. The sautéed market greens and fries complemented everything perfectly. We also had a bottle of Montes Alpha Carménère from Chile, which was an excellent full-bodied red and worked particularly well with the lamb. Overall, excellent food, a lovely spacious setting and a very enjoyable evening. We would happily return.”

“I enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast here. My only criticism would be the potatoes were over-roasted, otherwise really good. The service was also exceptional, with Gabi welcoming us with a smile.”

“This is a beautiful setting for a great dinner weather with my lovely lady or a group of friends. Our server Mariam was so lovely and corteous. The starters were delicious we shared the Steak Tar Tar, Yellowtail Carpaccio, Honey and Feta, and the Jamon Serrano croquette. Have to try their Rib Eye or Lamb Skewer next time. The Mango and Caramel Mousse was delicious, and my wife truly enjoyed the Espresso Martini.”

“Came here to dine before theatre with kids and it was a good call - we had all enjoyed our meals and the service was amazing. The restaurant provides a fine dining atmosphere without much formalities or dress code. Staff is very friendly and attentive and service was fast. The portion sizes are not that big so you’ll have to order a starter and a side to get full, that’s what makes it more expensive. But the quality of food is great and everything is impeccable”
