About The Oystermen Seafood Bar & Kitchen
The Oystermen Seafood Bar & Kitchen is a fish and seafood restaurant at 32 Henrietta St in London, built around an oyster bar. An oyster happy hour pairs six oysters with a glass of Prosecco, which gives first-time visitors an easy way into the menu. Oysters also come tempura-fried, with a Buffalo option. Elsewhere on the menu, the kitchen serves grilled octopus and crab, either dressed or whole and sold by weight. Mains include John Dory, hake and monkfish, with chips served alongside. Seats at the bar face the chefs as they shuck oysters and plate dishes.

Customer Review Summary
Oysters are what most diners come for, with the tempura-fried and buffalo versions singled out, and others praising huge, fresh ones across several species, though one finds them a little small. Crab comes close behind, described as sweet, meaty and fresh, alongside the anchovy toast, chowder and a sticky toffee pudding with a rich sauce. Mains draw praise for the John Dory, hake and monkfish, and the octopus is a favourite for its texture and sweet tomatoes. Chips and fries are called excellent. Service is repeatedly called friendly, attentive and informative, with bar seats giving a view of the shucking. The caveats are specific. One diner found the grilled octopus soft and lacking char, and the curry sauce on the monkfish thin and overpowering. Another called the black ink risotto bland and the skate wing smaller than expected. One birthday table was brought a fizz and a card.

“Outstanding from start to finish. I sat at the oyster bar which I’d definitely recommend if you’re going on your own. Watching the chefs shuck the oysters and plate every dish added to the whole experience. I had six oysters across four different species, followed by the smoked Scottish trout and the grilled octopus, with a Riesling to pair. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented and full of flavour. A special mention to Joseph, who looked after me throughout. He was incredibly knowledgeable, talked me through the different oysters, made some great recommendations and was genuinely passionate about the food and wine. His service made an already great meal even better. One of the best seafood meals I’ve had in London and I’ll definitely be back.”

“Oystermen is one of my favourite seafood restaurants. The service was amazing, and the staff were very attentive and welcoming. The seafood was incredibly fresh the crab was sweet and delicious. The oysters were good, although a little on the small side. The sticky toffee pudding was excellent, with a rich, indulgent sauce that was the perfect way to finish the meal. The location is great, and I would recommend booking a table in advance as it can get busy. Overall, a fantastic dining experience, and I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended!”

“I can't believe I haven't been to The Oystermen sooner. What a gem of a restaurant. The service was spectacular, we were celebrating a big birthday and the restaurant was perfect. We were warmly welcomed, our food came out at the right time, not rushed. We were attended to quickly. The food was incredible, I want to go back and try different flavours of oysters. We had the infamous Tempura ones and the Buffalo ones. So Good!! The anchovy toast was also to die for. I could eat this all day! Honestly if you have tried this restaurant before then you're missing out. Don't be like us and wait 9 years to find this place.”

“The Oystermen is a fantastic example of what a good seafood restaurant should be, warm inviting staff, excellent food and a great wine list. We lovedthe oysters which are huge! And the John Dory & Hake as mains were exceptional - if you like your seafood, you should absolutely visit this place!”

“Absolutely loved our time here. We were seated at the bar, service was friendly and the atmosphere was buzzing. We had the sardines, octopus, hake, monkfish, fennel and cabbage salads. Food was great and we really enjoyed ourselves. My favourite dish of the evening was the octopus. The octopus itself was the perfect texture and the tomatoes were so sweet and flavourful. Would recommend.”
