About Sporting Club London
Sporting Club London is a family-run Portuguese restaurant and sports bar at 27 Elkstone Rd in London, with resident soloist singer and guitarist Carlos Cabrita performing Friday to Sunday. His sets mix Latin, pop, rock, Brazilian, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese songs, so the large dining room has live music behind the meal. The kitchen cooks home-made Portuguese and Spanish style food, including seafood, a T-bone steak and sardines served with potatoes and salad. Tables are walk-in. The venue also hosts corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, christenings, Christmas and New Year's Eve, so groups can bring their own guests and leave the organising to the restaurant.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise the Portuguese food, with sardines named repeatedly as a highlight, served with potatoes and bread salad in one account and as a very good starter alongside a good T-bone steak in another. Diners describe it as home made, in abundance and reasonably priced, with plenty of seafood and Portuguese and Spanish style cooking. Close behind is the setting, called relaxed, homely, warm and lively, a non-pretentious dining room with great music and a strong Portuguese feel, especially on games day. One reviewer says staff stay fast even with a full house and suggests booking a table on those days. A few note the drink was not the best, though a cold Superbock gets a mention. The sharpest criticism comes from two reviewers. One says a bitoque arrived with brown gravy over meat and salad, hard chips and meat that tasted off, so they paid and left. Another describes an owner who raised his voice at arrival over a time cutoff, with staff backing his explanation. Even so, other diners close on the sardines, the simple cheerful room and the sense that the place keeps things real and human.

“I ordered a traditional Portuguese bitoque and instead was served gravy with meat and salad and hard chips! The meat tasted like it was off and I could not believe that they would put brown gravy on bitoque! It is simply not a thing and just disgusting. I was so disgusted by the taste of the meat and the gravy over salad etc that I just paid and left. Never again!!! The food is an absolute scam and they do not value their customers either. Just overall disgusting place.”

“This is how restaurants should be. It’s all about the quality of the food and in abundance. Lots of choice and no pretentious nonsense like in so many London restaurants now. You can just sit back and enjoy great food and great wine in a simple and cheerful environment. I loved this place and recommend it heartily.”
