About Berenjak Soho

Berenjak Soho is a Persian restaurant in London, at 27 Romilly St, with an open kitchen and charcoal-grilled kababs at the center of its cooking. The menu starts with mazeh, small plates made for sharing, so a table can order several dishes at once. Khoresht, the Persian stews, round out the range alongside the grilled meats. Guests can watch the cooking happen in the open kitchen. Children under 16 cannot be accommodated after 7pm.

Customer Review Summary

The complaints are about space and cost. Reviewers describe cramped seating and tiny tables, and one found the lighting poor. One felt the set lunch fell short, calling the jujeh kabab bland, and another notes that rice and most sides are charged for. Reservations are hard to get, and one reviewer could not reach the restaurant by phone to reschedule but got a new date by email. Several mention a free mezze, sides or birthday desserts from the team.

“Berenjak Soho didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Poorly lit and extremely cramped with tiny tables where you barely have room to place a plate and glass. We tried the £35 set lunch. Loved the bread and Shirazi salad, but the rest of the food lacked flavor—especially the Jujeh Kabab, which was quite bland. I had paid £20pp fee while booking on Sevenrooms. However, when I wanted to reschedule my reservation on the day, I could never reach them on phone. I had to email them, and the staff was kind enough to reschedule to a later date.”

“Taftoon and sangak breads both were amazing, my favorite was the Mirza ghasemi, other dips were all really good. Shibzamini was amazing specially the dip it comes with, house rice was good as well. Panir sabzi was a bit disappointing, and the ghaimeh bademjoon was too strong for us. Overall the mazeh menu was amazing and loved the vibes!”

“Hard to get a reservation but we got lucky and were able to book last minute for dinner at 4 PM which worked out fine for our jet lag. Wow- the hummus and breads were so amazing. Been to quite a good amount of well known Persian restaurants but the hummus here is still #1! It tastes so creamy, nutty and looks like chocolate! My husband loves Berenjak so much that we’re planning a weekend trip to London just to eat at Berenjak!”

“What do I even say! Great food, great vibes, great staff! We were lucky enough to get a last minute reservation for lunch and ordered their set menu! Honestly, it’s super great value; they give you more than enough food for 2 meals and every single dish is bomb. We also got free alcohol and a mezze on the house! Plus, sitting on the counter lets you see the chefs cook the meat and breads on the grill!”

“Great place. We were walking nearby and got curious about this place. The staff was very lovely and quickly gave us a table. Service was really good and everyone there was with big smile. We ordered vegetarian options and all of them were delicious. Our fav was sherbat drink, taftoon and ghaimen bademjoon. Highly Recommended and worth a stop for lunch/dinner.”
