Quick info
About Hibox
Hibox is a Palestinian restaurant in London at 48 Goodge St, serving Palestinian and Lebanese dishes that are vegan and gluten-free. The menu is organised around boxes, including a chicken shawarma box and a vegan box, and falafel bowls and wraps sit alongside them. The kitchen makes its garlic sauce and chilli sauce in house. Gaza Cola is on the drinks menu, and a sugar-free version is also stocked. A small seating area sits near the entrance, and a larger dining area is downstairs in the basement. Palestinian flags, artwork and traditional background music make up the decor. Signage at the restaurant states its dietary requirements clearly, so the gluten-free and vegan options are easy to identify.

Customer Review Summary
Falafel is what reviewers return to most, described as crispy, fresh and fried to order, whether in the falafel bowl, a wrap or the vegan box. Close behind is the chicken shawarma box, called juicy and well cooked, with homemade garlic and chilli sauces praised alongside fresh tabbouleh and creamy tahini. Gaza Cola on the drinks menu gets repeated mentions, and the downstairs dining area is called an oasis and a hideout from the London chaos. Reviewers also describe friendly staff, including one who cared about the level of spice in a wrap. The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the vegan box held only two falafel instead of the three shown online, with the quinoa and vegetables overwhelmed by vinegar, while the rice in the shawarma box was under seasoned and the fries with the wrap were not crispy. Another found the portion a bit small and the lunchtime wait quite long. One diner praised a gluten-free tabbouleh salad made on request.

“Wow. I’ve never been so eager to post a review while I’m still eating my meal! Best shawarma meal I’ve ever had in my 28 years living in London. The chicken is so juicy and perfectly cooked, plus all of the ingredients are clearly sourced from quality suppliers (I could actually taste the tomato in my wrap!) plus very friendly customer service which makes everything even better. 10/10.”

“The guy who made my wrap was so kind and really seemed invested in the level of spicy I wanted. Ha. It’s specific, but it really is rare to have someone care so much! The falafel was so fresh and tasty. Perfect ratios of everything. Bonus - the downstairs eating area is an actual oasis!”

“This restaurant is located in a central area, within easy walking distance of the city centre and surrounded by many venues and restaurants. It serves authentic Palestinian cuisine, rather than simply advertising itself as Middle Eastern, it feels genuinely dedicated to Palestinian food and culture. At first glance the restaurant looks quite small, with only a few tables near the entrance, but if you continue downstairs you'll find a much larger dining area. The basement is beautifully decorated, peaceful, and has plenty of seating, with traditional background music. The decorations reflects Palestinian identity throughout the restaurant, with flags, artwork, and messages supporting peace and freedom. The identity of the restaurant is also reflected in its drinks menu. Instead of major international soft drink brands, they serve alternatives such as Gaza Cola, including a sugarfree version, alongside other sugarfree lemon and orange soft drinks. I appreciated the consistency of the concept. The menu is extensive and offers plenty of traditional dishes. I particularly recommend the chicken shawarma box, the vegan box, and the wrap Box. Prices are very reasonable, portions are generous, and the service is fast. The owner was kind. The Chicken Shawarma Box was easily my favourite dish. My only criticism is that the rice itself was slightly under seasoned and only really came alive once mixed with the chicken and sauces. I expected slightly bolder spices from a Palestinian restaurant, although the homemade sauces helped compensate for that. The garlic sauce has a unique texture and flavour, while the chilli sauce is excellent. Both pair perfectly with the food, especially the falafel. The vegan box, however, was more disappointing. During my visit it contained only two falafel instead of the three shown online. The falafel themselves were excellent, crispy and flavourful, fried in the moment, but there simply weren't enough of them, making them feel like a side rather than the star of the dish. The quinoa and vegetables were overwhelmed by vinegar, which overpowered the other flavours, and the moussaka listed on the menu wasn't particularly noticeable. The Wmwrap box was enjoyable but less memorable. It was essentially a classic chicken wrap served with fries, which unfortunately were not particularly crispy or well cooked. The drinks are affordable and genuinely good. Knowing that they come from a company connected to a cause I personally care about made the experience even more meaningful. If I could recommend just one meal, it would definitely be the chicken shawarma box, ideally with a side of falafel added separately. Mixing the falafel into the rice, chicken, vegetables, and sauces creates an incredible combination that truly captures the rich flavours I was hoping to experience. The restaurant also has a clean downstairs bathroom with all the expected amenities. Another big advantage is the continuous opening hours throughout the afternoon. If, like me, you enjoy eating lunch later than usual, it's the perfect place to have a generous, affordable meal in a quiet atmosphere. The only downside is that it closes around 8:00 pm, which feels a little early for a city like London, where many people don't even start thinking about dinner until then.”

“Amazing falafels, beautiful and green inside, tabbouleh was tangy and fresh and the other salads were excellent. Prices are reasonable and there's a nice downstairs hideout to escape the London chaos. What are you waiting for?”
- Ying-Ching Hsieh
“The food was good, but the portion is a bit small with the peice. The waiting was actually quite long during lunch time. They have clear sign about dietary requirements. I am impressed of they made the GF version of tabbouleh salad.”
