“Spanish & Italian small plates & wine served in a chic, warmly decorated dining spot.”
Quick info
About Salt Yard
Salt Yard is a Spanish restaurant at 54 Goodge St in London, serving Spanish and Italian small plates with wine. The plates follow a tapas style and are made for sharing, so a table can order several dishes and pass them around. A Head Chef's tasting menu sits alongside them and puts the kitchen's own selection on the table. Padron peppers appear among the savoury plates, and Basque cheesecake rounds out the dessert side. Walk-ins are possible without a booking, and the room has bar seating.

Customer Review Summary
Diners most often point to the head chef's tasting menu, which two reviewers call delicious and excellent value. Close behind are the salt soaked padron peppers and the prawns, with one reviewer singling out the chargrilled babygem lettuce in almonds and harissa dressing. Others name burrata, patatas bravas, lamb loin and basque cheesecake, and one calls the duck excellent and the churros very good. Service is repeatedly described as attentive and warm, with several reviewers crediting individual staff. The criticism is concentrated in one detailed account: an asparagus dish of five thin, withered sticks with a tomato mole that felt overpriced, plus overcooked duck, over seasoned tuna and steak skewers that were a little cold. Another reviewer found the narrow bench tiring by the end of the meal. One birthday lunch ended with the waiter bringing out dessert with a candle and a birthday message.

“Had a wonderful lunch at Salt Yard on Goodge Street with my friend Charlotte. We went for the Chef’s Tasting Menu (£55), and everything was absolutely delicious — a great selection of dishes and excellent value for money. The service was also fantastic. Our waiter happened to overhear that it was my birthday and surprised us by bringing out dessert with a candle and a birthday message, which was such a thoughtful and lovely touch. Really enjoyable food, warm and attentive service, and a great overall experience. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend!”

“Excellent tapas. Best we had over our 10 days in London and Copenhagen. Highlights were burrata, patatas bravas, lamb loin, Iberico Solemillo, and beef tenderloin. And Jose was attentive and helpful.”

“A great range of selection for food and drinks, lovely vibe, and many thanks to the warm welcome and services from Maro and Hani. Love the prawns and pardon peppers; and don’t forget to treat yourself with a piece of basque cheesecake!!!”
