Quick info
About MAZAL London
MAZAL London is a kosher Mediterranean restaurant at Hawley Wharf in Camden Market, with seating inside the shop across a two-storey building. The kitchen cooks Middle Eastern dishes inspired by the Levant, and the shawarma is carved on the spot to order. It comes as a meal with yellow rice and diced salad, in a pita, or in laffa. Houmous is made in house and arrives with a choice of toppings. The chef cooks in a modern, casual style and pays close attention to where the ingredients come from. The kosher kitchen operates under KF Supervision, so the restaurant suits those who keep kosher, and it is closed Fridays and Saturdays. Desserts are dairy free, including a rose water Malabi with coconut.

Customer Review Summary
Shawarma is what most reviewers come for, served in a pita, in laffa, or as a meal with vegetables and yellow rice, and several rank it among the finest they have had in London. Diners describe it as fresh and full of flavour, with vegetables that complement the meat. Close behind are the falafel, cauliflower, houmus and techina, along with lamb kebabs, a schnitzel wrapped in pita and a smash burger. Reviewers also single out the Israeli beer, the Canaan Red wine and the friendly, welcoming staff, with service called quick even when busy. Portions are described as large, and one party took leftovers home. One dissenting reviewer found the hummus bitter from too much tahini, the yellow rice bland, and the chicken shawarma pitas dry, with only three pieces of chicken each and too much salad and sauce, though the baba ganoush and pita bread were praised. Another diner noted the dairy free desserts and called the rose water malabi with coconut the best part of the meal.

“Very disappointing, especially after reading so many glowing Google reviews. The staff weren’t particularly friendly or welcoming. The hummus tasted very bitter, with an overpowering tahini flavour and not enough lemon or garlic to balance it. The yellow rice was bland and needed salt. We ordered two chicken shawarma pitas, each containing just three pieces of chicken, which were dry and bland. The proportions felt completely off, with far too much salad and tahini sauce compared to the amount of chicken. More generous portions of meat and more care with the assembly would have made a big difference. On a positive note, the baba ganoush was delicious and the pita bread was good. We’re not particularly fussy eaters, but our experience fell well short of what the reviews had led us to expect.”

“I still relish this shawarma until today. With a perfect location. Vegetables complimented the meat so sweetly I felt like I was on an Israeli Street it was wonderful. The service was great and the workers were friendly. The portions were large and their beer was very nice. Would definitely come back here.”

“This is a must do for delicious food in Camden! The meals we had were 10/10 in taste, presentation and portion size. We had the lamb kebabs, the schnitzel wrapped in pita and the shawarma meal…all were perfect and more than enough food for another meal as leftovers.”

“Had lovely comfort food, Nina took good care of me 😊 one of the best pita shawarma you will find in London, and all kosher (and dairy free desserts, for us lactose intolerants)”

“I was looking for food after a long walk in the regent's park. It was already 20:00 on 31st March 2026. It was getting dark. While walking, I got into the Camden Market. It was a 2 storey building. It was already quite empty by then, but the music inside was quite upbeat. I wanted to try something new. So I saw a shop called Mazal and I picked the Shawarma meal. I took a seat inside the shop, and found that most people had a hat on. Curious, I asked the staff about that. That turned into an interesting conversation about Judaism and the jewish people. I also chatted with a few young people in the shop. It was nice to meet new people. The staff were very friendly, and the food was excellent. I particularly liked how balanced and healthy the meal was. The Shawarma meal had basically 3 parts, the vegetables (diced tomatos/cucumbers etc. etc.), yellow rice with lots of ingredients and also meat in slices. The dish had just the rught flavour and not overly salty. I liked it! Could not recommend more about this restaurant!”

“Some of our signature dishes include home-made, fresh houmous with a variety of distinct toppings, shawarma that is carved on the spot, ready to order, our crispy, green falafel, our crunchy and juicy chicken schnitzel and several other traditional Middle Eastern items, inspired by the Levant. Our chef Aviv cooks in a modern, casual style and we try to bring a “farm to table” approach to our cooking. We know, understand and have a deep appreciation for the provenance of our ingredients.
