About Cleopatra Restaurant Paddington

Cleopatra Restaurant Paddington is a Mediterranean restaurant at 157 Praed St in London, where Egyptian-inspired design sits alongside a menu of traditional Egyptian cooking. Lamb molokhya is one of several lamb dishes, and the kitchen also cooks meats over charcoal. The mixed grill for 2 brings together chicken, lamb and kofta. Chicken shawarma comes with a choice of chips or rice, and salads such as taboulleh and avocado are served as sides. Mezes, fish, burgers and freshly squeezed juices fill out the rest of the list. A counter area sits at the front of the room, and small tables are set at the back. The kitchen serves a full dinner after 10 PM, which suits late-night meals.

Customer Review Summary

Diners most often return to the grills and mezze, with the mixed grill for two leading the praise: chicken described as juicy, lamb succulent and kofta well-seasoned, served with fresh sides. Close behind are the mixed mezze platter, with creamy hummus and crispy falafel, and the taboulleh, which one pair ordered twice. Lamb gets repeated mention as butter-soft or tender, from the lamb shank to the lamb molokhya and a lamb and potato stew. Others name the avocado salad, charred wings, calamari rings and fresh watermelon juice. Portions are called huge or generous, and several note reasonable pricing and fast, friendly service. One late-night party enjoyed a full dinner after 10 PM and the staff put on Spanish music for them. The caveats are about flavor and execution: the chicken shawarma struck one diner as too subtle until the white sauce and salsa were added, another noticed the lack of spice, and the grilled salmon was slightly overdone, though the portion size made that matter little.

“We arrived after 10 PM looking for somewhere to have a proper dinner near Paddington, and couldn’t have found a better place. One of the best things is that you can actually sit down and enjoy a full dinner late at night, even after 10 PM, which was exactly what we needed after a long travel day. The service was absolutely amazing, everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming and attentive. They recommended the seafood plate and the mixed hummus shawarma, and both were delicious. I also had the fresh watermelon juice, which instantly reminded me of the aguas frescas back home in Mexico. Such a nice surprise! The sweetest part was that they thought we were from Spain and even put Spanish music on for us 😂. It was such a funny and thoughtful gesture and made us feel incredibly welcome. Great food, generous portions and, above all, genuinely kind people.”

“‼️‼️‼️Horrible experience‼️‼️‼️ After our meal I went to the toilet and all the paper was covered in mouse droppings and urine. The bathroom was in absolutely unsanitary conditions and it makes me question if the kitchen has the same problem.. as a business owner myself this is absolutely unacceptable. Avoid and all costs if you care about your families health.”

“Just, wow. This is hands down the best food we’ve eaten in London! The food is bursting with flavor!!! The rice is light, fluffy and delicious. The steak was cooked with a perfect pink center. The barbecued prawns were amazing. The best dish was in fact the taboulleh. My daughter and I order one to share and ended up having to order another because it was so good. This food reminds me of home. If you live Mediterranean food, you will not be disappointed!!”

“Mix Grill for 2 was an absolute treat. A generous platter featuring a perfectly balanced selection of grilled meats—each cooked to perfection with a delicious smoky flavor. The chicken was juicy and tender, the lamb succulent, and the kofta well-seasoned and full of flavor. Served alongside fresh sides that complemented the dish beautifully, making it a satisfying and complete meal. Perfect for sharing, with great portion size and quality that truly stands out. Highly recommended if you're looking for a hearty, flavorful grill experience.”
