About Briciole

Briciole is an Italian restaurant at 20 Homer St in London, where a trattoria dining room with exposed brick walls sits alongside a deli and cafe. Antipasti are served from the deli counter, and Italian wine and other Italian products are sold there. The kitchen makes its pasta, sauce and dessert in-house. The tagliatelle al ragù di cinghiale, a wild boar ragù, sits with calamari fritti and tiramisu among the dishes. The menu runs from antipasti through pasta to dessert, so a meal can follow the usual Italian order of courses. A private dining room is available for groups.

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the tiramisu, with one calling it among the best they have had and another urging others not to skip it. Close behind is the wild boar ragù tagliatelle, praised alongside the linguine with baby octopus, bucatini all'Amatriciana, beet ravioli with sage butter and crispy, tender calamari fritti. Several mention fresh housemade pasta and antipasti served from the deli counter, and a few say the food reminded them of Italy. Service is described as friendly and brisk, though one reviewer felt the young team was still learning hospitality. The main caveats are small. One found the room noisy and the bill for pasta, burrata and two glasses of Chianti somewhat high, while another wanted more asparagus in the gnocchi. Others describe the restaurant filling up fast, with one party able to walk in without a booking but a queue forming by the time they left, and a reviewer suggesting reservations.

“After reading some reviews, we considered this location. To begin with, this restaurant is located off the main traffic area of London. We found it quite appealing but somewhat noisy. We were greeted and we were both hungry. We ordered each a glass of Chianti. We were then asked if we wanted some water, then bread, we both agreed. We ordered burrata with smoked ham. My wife then ordered linguine with meat balls and I ordered lasagna. The meal arrived relatively quickly. After dinner, we received our bill. For a couple of plates of pasta, some ham with burrata, local bread and 2 glasses of red, $86.00 pounds plus the tip, somewhat high.”

“What a fantastic authentic Italian experience. We booked this restaurant for a reunion with relatives visiting the UK from America for the first time in 50 years and it couldn't have been a better choice. The food courses including the first course platters were really tasty and the waiters were all helpful and friendly. Everybody enjoyed the ambience and we couldnt recommend this restaurant enough for food and quality of service.”

“100% homemade (or housemade?) food from pasta, sauce to dessert. Great value and most importantly great food.”

“Do not skip the Tiramasu! Attended with family for an early dinner. Started with the absolutely delicious Bruschetta con ‘Nduja, lighty fried and tasty Calamari fritti and a fresh Insalata rape e gorgonzola. For mains, Salsiccia con polenta, pomodoro e Pecorino, Bucatini all’ Amatriciana and Tagliatelle al ragú di cinghiale, were all superb as well as their wine selection. Wonderful staff in a welcoming restaurant with beautiful aesthetics. Note: we arrived between lunch and dinner when it was not busy and without reservations and they were able to accommodate us but by the time we finished, the entire restaurant was full.. so reservations recommended.”

“A warm and welcoming Italian restaurant with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. We started with the Calamari Fritti and Arancina ai Funghi, followed by the Linguine con Moscardini, Pomodorini, Olive e Capperi and the Tagliatelle al Ragù di Cinghiale. We also ordered the Filetto di Spigola al Forno con Rucola e Capperi for our daughter. To finish, we had the Crema Bruciata con Cioccolato Bianco. Everything we tried was delicious, well prepared and full of flavour. The linguine with baby octopus and the wild boar ragù tagliatelle were particularly enjoyable, while the sea bass was beautifully cooked. The service was attentive, friendly and professional without being intrusive, and we felt very comfortable throughout our meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and would definitely recommend Briciole to anyone looking for authentic Italian food in a warm and positive setting.”
