  “We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to 1947 London on Sunday to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary. The restaurant’s decor looked elegant, timeless and classy. The food was well-presented and full of flavour. We ordered chicken curry, which was delicious. I highly recommend the mango lassi. It was so refreshing. The service was friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Thank you for a lovely time. I will definitely be returning.”

The quality of the ingredients and attention to detail were evident in every course. The elegant atmosphere, stylish interior, and warm hospitality made the evening feel extra special. The staff were knowledgeable, attentive, and happy to guide us through the menu with excellent recommendations. If you're looking for refined Indian cuisine in London, 1947 London is an outstanding choice and a restaurant I'd highly recommend. I'll definitely be returning.”

  “Really impressed with all the dishes. The effort and depth of flavours with even the sauces for the pappadoms very noticeable. Starters and main courses understandably excellent. Service very good and liked the mango margarita.”

  “Me and my colleague went to try the non veg lunch set menu tiffin style today. The food was very very tasty. The chicken was cooked to perfection. We ordered naan breads extra which was very tasty. Everything about the food was yum. But the serving time was bit longer specially during lunch time when its not busy at all. If they could improve serving time it will be great.”

  “We had the Bahrwaan paneer tikka, butter chicken, Malwani chicken, Chai Martini (incredible dessert drink, I need to come back to try it again) and the Gulab Jamun dessert. All so so good!! Friendly staff members too. The only remark - definitely not the cheapest Indian we’ve had, but great nonetheless”

  “1947 London Exceptional experience I had while celebrating a birthday at your restaurant. The evening was truly spectacular. We were immediately impressed by the elegant décor and the sophisticated atmosphere, which provided the perfect setting for our celebration. The quality of the cuisine was outstanding. We particularly enjoyed the deeply spiced main courses and the buttery Garlic Naan. The Dum Biryani was a highlight, offering an authentic and aromatic flavor that we found truly impressive. Furthermore, the Dark Chocolate Fondant and Mango Kulfi provided a perfect conclusion to the meal, while the Kohinoor Kiss and East India Elixir cocktails were expertly crafted. I would also like to commend your staff for their impeccable service. The thoughtful gesture of bringing a sparkling candle for my husband’s birthday was greatly appreciated and made the evening even more memorable. The team was attentive, professional, and welcoming throughout our visit. Thank you for your hospitality and for making this birthday celebration so special. We look forward to visiting 1947 London again soon with our friends.”

  “It was a wonderful experience at 1947 London. We celebrated our anniversary dinner there, and the staff arranged everything beautifully. The food was lovely, especially the Dal Makhani and the seabass fillet dish. I would like to extend my thanks to Anjana and the entire staff team for making our evening so special.”

  “We had a lovely evening and really enjoyed a birthday celebration over dinner — the atmosphere was pleasant and we had a good time overall. The cocktails and starters were lovely. That said, we did feel that the Mains didn’t quite live up to the high expectations set by its reputation.”

  “The restaurant wasn’t busy at 19:30 on Sunday 19th April 2026 I had mentioned at the time of booking, at a second time when confirming our booking & on arrival that it was a wedding anniversary celebration meal but was surprised that it was not even acknowledged with a simple vocal ‘happy anniversary’ on our arrival. We could have stayed closer to home in Kent & had the same quality food but with a nicer atmosphere & more attentive staff for a lot less money where typically also as standard service for lady diners chairs are pulled out for them to be seated which isn’t the case at 1947London The food was nice but no nicer than our local Indian restaurant of choice. Tables & cutlery were clean & nicely presented, the background music didn’t give the usual traditional Indian vibe & we didn’t receive a ‘meal check’ at any point while dining & not even a murmur of ‘thank you for visiting’ was heard as we opened the door to leave after paying our bill. Unfortunately in both of our opinions, going out of our way to travel to 1947 London wasn’t worth it as it wasn’t the dining ‘experience’ that social media portrays (which was our reason for booking) & that we were looking forward to.”

  “Lovely food, nice place. Staff are helpful. We chose from the a la carte menu, portion size was average. Not the cheapest place but nice food, similar to many places in London maybe overpriced for what you get. On the flip side they offered a set menu which looked very good value for money. We were asked if we wanted poppadoms whilst the food was been made, menu was taken so didn't know the price. Charged £8/£9 for mini poppadoms with chutney which seemed a little steep in my opinion. Not sure if this is a sales tactic. We ordered pilau rice and instead got boiled rice but rectified the mistake and bought the correct one within a few minutes. Recommend the Stuffed Paneer, and also the Spinach. Definitely will go back again and recommend to try it.”
