About Hungama Indian Street Food
Hungama Indian Street Food is a modern Indian restaurant in London, at 21 Charing Cross Rd, built around the street food of India. The menu runs from vada pav and pani puri to Indo-Chinese noodles, including schezwan noodles, so the cooking covers both the market snack and the wok side of the cuisine. The kitchen prepares its recipes fresh each day, with spices as a central part of the cooking. The restaurant is open daily.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often come for the heat, with several praising spice that gives a slow burn without flattening the flavor, as in the chicken chili masala and spicy schezwan noodles. Close behind are the curries and breads: chicken tikka masala, rogan josh with a generous portion of lamb, lamb biryani, chana masala, and garlic naan that one diner calls an unexpected surprise. Street food gets its own mentions, including pani puri, vada pavs, chicken lollipops, chicken samosas, and masala chai. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, service as quick, and prices as fair for the portions. The one caveat comes from a reviewer who finds the food on the spicier end and would recommend the street food over the curries and naans. In one account, the chef warned a diner that the dish was spicy and offered to tailor it, which turned out not to be needed.

“Was looking for some Chicken Tikka Masala whilst in London on a short visit and found this little gem on Charing Cross after wandering through China Town. We also got some Chicken lollipops and Chicken Samosas to share. The Naan was an unexpected surprise. Needless to say that everything was delicious and way more food than two people can eat in a sitting. The spice was also perfect as was the service. If you’re in the area and looking for great quick Indian food give this place a chance!”

“Its perfectly like home, India. We had spicy schezwan noodles, Vadapav and Buttermilk. The taste was authentic and spicy. The staff is very welcoming and polite. Service was super fast. MUST TRY!”

“A hidden gem. We’ve been in London for a week, eating at several Indian restaurants including famous upscale chains. This restaurant easily is the best we’ve had. We started with the Pani Puri, delicious little hollow crisps that you pour spicy or sweet sauces into. I had the Rogan Josh which was delicious and had, by far, the most generous portion of lamb we’ve had. Each piece of the lamb was high quality. The staff is very nice and the chef, an older man, undoubtedly the owner, was singing along with the music. We give this small street restaurant our highest recommendation! Go! You won’t be sorry!”

“Great small place with incredibly delicious food. Prices are super fair. We had the chicken tikka and chana masala and both were great, naan and roti were very delicious. Would come back anytime.”

“Visiting from the states, our goal was to find authentic Indian street food in London. This place nailed it on the head - the flavors, the spices, the portions and the prices are spot on. The spicier the better and they did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly as well and while small, the atmosphere was very pleasant.”
