Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often praise friendly, attentive service alongside tasty, well-flavoured curries, with the king prawn puri singled out as a favourite that did not disappoint. The lamb shank, the hot wings and the chef's recommendations also draw praise, and one diner found the portions satisfying without being excessive. One reviewer thanks staff who helped them inside in a wheelchair, and others describe waiters with a nice sense of humour. Spice level is the main point of disagreement. A madras from the express lunch menu came out far hotter than one couple expected, while a group of heavy spice eaters found their dishes milder than they wanted. One reviewer initially doubted the food quality given the price, and another wondered how service would hold up when busier. Yogurt arrived quickly for the diner overwhelmed by the madras, and one table finished with a complimentary liqueur.

“Finding a truly excellent Indian restaurant is very difficult. Often, you might be served a dish that is too oily, or food that is bland and overly "adapted" to local tastes—or, conversely, far too spicy. In "The India" I found the perfect balance of heat and spice—not too much, but exactly right. Every dish was prepared to perfection, and the portion sizes were thoughtfully designed to leave you satisfied without overeating. I chose the chef's recommendations and was absolutely delighted; it was the best Indian food I’ve ever tasted! I also want to highlight the service, which was both polite and impeccable. I truly appreciate such a lovely experience and great for of the team here🙏🤗”

“Forgot to take photos of the food… Initially with the price I did wonder about the food quality. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff, who was attentive. Though do wonder how it would be if it was busier. Whenever I go to an Indian restaurant who serve king prawn puri (one of my favourite dishes) I have to try it. It did not disappoint and actually reminded me of the best I had in a restaurant when I lived in Rochester (Kent). We ordered the madras set from the express lunch menu. My partner (who eats more hotter curries than I do) enjoyed it more than I did as it was a lot hotter than both of us expected but still tasty and flavoursome. They provided some yogurt as soon as they could to help my over-sensitised taste-buds 🥵 I would likely go back and happily have the king prawn puri again but maybe a different main.”

“Tonight while on vacation with Jen (my wife) and my brother+his girlfriend, we ate dinner at The India in Leicester Square. The food was great the four of us got two apps to share, and four mains every thing we ate was wonderful. Not as spicy as we would have preferred (all of us eat vary spicy food) but full of flavor, I would definitely return. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, service was timely. The restaurant was cozy with a stylish modern design. Would definitely recommend.”

“We had a lovely restbite here from the heat of the day. The service was very friendly and the food was stunning. The lamb shank was particularly beautiful. After finishing we had complimentary Bailey's to finish up with. What a great find on our trip for a fabulous dinner before a show!”
