Customer Review Summary
Dim sum is the main draw, with diners praising it as fresh and made to order, and singling out the fried custard bao, shrimp and garlic chive dumplings, scallops cheung fun, and crystal prawn dumplings. Close behind, a few reviewers like the fried garlic prawn roll and the special fried rice, and several call the bill good value for Chinatown. Service splits opinion. Some describe the staff as surly or busy but efficient, fast and to the point, while another says the waiter was polite but needs to be asked before serving. The recurring complaint is the cooked mains, which reviewers on Christmas Day and other evenings called average or underwhelming, including a fillet steak dish that disappointed. One reviewer describes a duck that was fatty and not crispy, with mostly bones and rice, and another says a late visit near closing felt rushed, with waiters hovering at the end. Reviewers who came on Christmas Day mention food arriving surprisingly fast, and one server took a group photo for a table of six.

“Mind the gap — between your expectations and this restaurant. The food was a major letdown. I ordered the duck but ended up with a pile of bones, a mountain of rice, and very little meat. To make matters worse, the duck wasn't even crispy, it was just incredibly fatty. While the dessert was actually good, it couldn't justify the London prices. Honestly, even the cheapest takeaway back home does a better job for half the price. Very Disappointing.”

“Not a very happy customer here tonight. Our town’s chinese takeaway does it better. Maybe a different chef tonight? Not so sure. Anyway, just don’t come. Plenty of better places to eat in the square.”

“We went there close to their closing time. My opinion is always if you’re near closing time, it is not closing time. If you’re don’t want to serve people, then say no the kitchen is closed. They told us we would have to order soon which was fine. The food was ok. It was takeaway good. My friend who ordered the fillet steak dish was disappointed with the dish. The special fried rice was great. We also ordered a glass of wine and a couple of beers for him. The waitress stood at that cabinet with the door open so long, I don’t know if she was deciding whether to give him the beer or curse him out. The waiters also did a lot of hovering at the end. I would visit again earlier in the day to see if food was better then.”

“Honestly surprised at the low reviews. We went here randomly without checking and had a superb dimsum meal.... Everything was delicious, fresh, fragrant and as it should be. None of the dimsum tasted like they had been frozen and everything seemed to have been made fresh, to order - even the siumai which are notorious for being a frozen item in many Chinese restaurants; definitely not here. Ok, the servers do not appear friendly, but in fact they are. If you appreciate Chinese food and culture, you will be respected and treated excellently. This is a tremendously busy place with lots of tables over 4 floors and the servers have a tremendous amount of work. None of them are rude though, they are just busy. That said, we did not feel rushed, the food came out at a normal pace and the prices were incredibly good for central London. A meal for 4 including a bottle of wine, 2 beers and a glass of wine, multiple dimsum, duck and noodles, plus a 10% tip was £167.... We left full and happy with our experience. ..I don't know what other reviewers are looking for.... This is good, honest food, not a 4 star restaurant experience ..... 1000% will be back next time im in London. Also the fried custard Bao are absolutely to die for as were the shrimp/ garlic chive and shrimp dimsum. Actually everything was delicious.”

“We ate at this restaurant on Christmas Day (evening time) and honestly for the price we paid for the meal the food was average. We ordered the duck, Chinese broccoli and a fried beef noodles dish. We also had three beverages - 1 beer and 2 soft drinks. We got enough food for the 3 of us and it looked good but we were all underwhelmed with how it tasted. I would say go and try it for yourself. It may just have been our selections that wasn’t on point that night.”
