About Leongs Legend
Leongs Legend is a Chinese restaurant at 39 Gerrard St in London, serving Taipei street food in a room lined with bamboo panelling. Its bottomless dim sum is timed and arrives in rounds, with more dishes per person in the first round and fewer in the later ones. Prawn and pork feature heavily across the dim sum choices, including black truffle and pork xiao long bao and fried beancurd-skin rolls stuffed with shrimp. Outside dim sum, the menu moves to spicy noodles, rice bowls and congee, and crispy aromatic duck is also on offer. A service charge is added at the end of the meal.

Customer Review Summary
Most reviewers come for the Time Out bottomless dim sum offer, which several call great value with a drink included. The black truffle and pork xiaolongbao is the dish named most often, described as rich and generously filled, while the crab roe and giant versions are also called juicy. Close behind are the beancurd-skin rolls stuffed with shrimp, which one pair ordered twice, and the prawn and pork dumplings. Beyond dim sum, diners mention beer chicken that stays tender under a slightly crispy exterior, ginger duck, and beef noodles. Several describe the staff as attentive, friendly and warm, and one calls the room cosy. Service is also where the complaints sit. One Saturday lunch diner says the dim sum arrived well before the rest of the order with no apology, and a requested chilli sauce never came, so the service charge was removed. Another reviewer reports that a server made a racist remark and that a colleague asked for a tip after a voucher was used. One happier table was given a free bottle of beer after befriending a staff member.

“Leong's legends is quite simply my favourite place in Chinatown, and is a regular restaurant for me and several friends due to it's unbeatable prices and great tasting food! The Timeout offer for Dim Sum is undeniably the best value around, and some of my favourites include the Pine Nut and Vegetable Crystal buns, the pan fried chicken dumplings and my personal favourite, the Black truffle and pork Xiao long bao. We've been here multiple times, and will continue to do so. I would happily recommend to anyone!”

“The xiaolongbao were definitely a highlight. The soup-filled ones had so much broth inside that they even came with a straw to drink the soup! The crab roe xiaolongbao were also delicious, with a lovely crab aroma and plenty of savoury, juicy filling. The beer chicken was another favourite. The chicken is skinless and boneless, fried first and then braised with beer, so you get a nice slightly crispy and aromatic exterior while the meat stays tender and absorbs all the flavour from the sauce. I was also pleasantly surprised by the ginger duck. It had a lovely ginger and herbal aroma with a subtle sweetness in the finish. The beef noodles were comforting and flavourful as well. I’d definitely come back for the xiaolongbao and beer chicken!”

“Had the Giant Xiao Long Bao (£9.80) and it was really fun, juicy ans fresh with the right amount of chew. Also went for the Pork Bun/Gua Bao (£8.50) which was super tasty. Great attentive service & nice indoor decor.”

“We had an amazing dim sum lunch today at Leong's in Chinatown. We went for Time Out's bottomless dim sum and were not disappointed at all. Our favourite is Fried bean curd with shrimps - absolutely delicious and each piece was packed with shrimps, so good that we ordered it twice! How it works is, 3 dishes each in the 1st round, then 2 each in the 2nd, than 1 each in the 3rd and thereafter. By the end of the 2nd round we'd already had 10 dim sum between us. We were completely full when we walked out the restaurant. All staff are polite and attentive. When we were there, there was a group of 20 people came in for lunch and they were not distracted at all. The lunch cost £24.95 each including a glass of prosecco, you pay 12.5% service charge at the end of the meal. Where can you get 12x dim sum for £56.5 in London? We'll definitely go again. (just google Timeout bottomless dim sum). Thank you to the lovely gentlemen at the bar today.”

“The dimsum all you can eat is worth it if you like prawns and pork. I love prawns and pork. Most of the dimsum choices are variations of these two main proteins. My favourite is the beancurd rolls! But, everything else is good. Service is very attentive mostly because it wasn't busy. We befriended one of the staff and she gave us a free bottle of beer. Thank you! Overall, you cannot go wrong here. Spot is super cosy considering it's China town. Nothing is rushed but you have to because the buffet is timed. But we gave up ordering even with time to spare.”
