Customer Review Summary
Work Christmas meals are the most common draw, with reviewers praising the festive menu, huge portions, extra veg for the table and a turkey one diner says had real flavour. A festive buffet for a team of 26 was also called reasonably priced with plenty to go round. Close behind are the burger and cheesy fries, which several single out as especially good, along with Neck Oil and a range of real ales. The pool table and dart boards come up repeatedly, with one reviewer noting pool costs a pound a game and cash is needed. The back terrace looks out over the Barbican development, and the varied menu suits a lunch nearby. Complaints are few but specific. One group left straight after finishing their drinks because the man running the pub came across as sarcastic and rude, and another diner at a team Christmas lunch felt staff got dietary information very wrong for one person, though the service was otherwise called excellent. A reviewer who found the pub in the Good Beer Guide describes it as tucked away in a corner of the Barbican complex.

“Came across by chance when looking for a drink and lunch. Burger was delicious and staff very friendly. Burgers only £10 on Mondays too!!”

“A good place for lunch as it's near the Barbican. Food menu quite varied and reasonably priced.”

“Pool tables and darts which is a plus but the guy who runs it is so rude and obnoxious that we immediately finished our drinks and left. Shame as it’s an alright pub but his sarcastic and rude manner made it unpleasant.”

“We had a fabulous festive evening with my team of 26 people. We had an area with a pool table and dart board, which kept everyone entertained all evening. The festive buffet was very reasonably priced (there was plenty to go round) and the service was brilliant. Thanks to James, Cerys and Heidi for all your efforts!”

“We had our team Christmas meal here and it was great. It was very close to the office and had a good menu so was an easy choice for us. Our lunch was set for 2pm and the table was available on arrival and the we had our food labels ready to go. We went for the 3 course apart from a few who joined on the day who had to go with their regular menu. The food was great with some great christmas selections in the menu and the portion sizes were huge. The extra veg for the table was a great add-on and the service was excellent. 3 stars due to the staff getting some dietary info very wrong for one of us. Apart from that, a great venue for Christmas lunch.”
