Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often point to the friendly, welcoming service, with several describing staff who were attentive and made sure customers were looked after, even when the pub was busy. The steak pie is the dish named most, one reviewer calling it fantastic and another noting it arrived on a hot plate. Close behind are the beers, with diners describing a great selection of real beer and proper pints, and traditional fish and chips also gets a mention. Many like the lively atmosphere and the spot right by the Liverpool Street station exit. One reviewer likes the booths for quieter conversation. The main caveat is noise: one reviewer says it gets quite loud after 18:00, and another describes loud music and even louder conversations. One visitor found no trouble ordering or finding a table despite expecting a crowd. Another reviewer describes big, filling portions.

“I had a really lovely experience at the pub and a huge part of that was thanks to Calum. From the moment I arrived he was welcoming, friendly, and made me feel comfortable straight away. He greeted me with a smile and had such a positive attitude, which really set the tone for the visit. It’s always nice when staff are genuinely warm and approachable, and Calum definitely stood out for that. Throughout my time there he was attentive without being over the top. He checked in at the right times to make sure everything was okay, made sure I had everything I needed, and kept things running smoothly even though the pub was clearly busy. It’s not always easy to keep such a high level of service in a busy environment, but Calum handled it really well and stayed calm, polite, and professional the whole time. What really stood out to me was how natural and genuine he was. He didn’t just do the basics of the job he actually made an effort to make sure customers were having a good time and enjoying their visit. That kind of service really makes a difference and turns a normal trip to the pub into a much better experience. You can tell he takes pride in his work and genuinely cares about the people he’s serving. Staff like Calum are a big part of what makes a place memorable and are the reason people want to come back again. Great service can completely change the atmosphere of a place, and Calum definitely helped create a welcoming and relaxed environment while I was there. A big thank you to him for the fantastic service it really didn’t go unnoticed. The pub is lucky to have someone like Calum on the team, and I’ll definitely be returning again in the future.”
