Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the beer, praising the selection and calling it the cheapest they have found in London, including a Session IPA from the London-based Goodness Brewing Company among five craft beers on offer. Close behind is the food, with the daily specials called good value and the mixed veg tempura and spinach and halloumi arancini recommended. Staff are described as friendly and welcoming, and the downstairs area and private room draw praise, as does the location near the tube. Complaints are specific. One diner at a work Christmas lunch found the vegetarian option lacking flavour and the dessert a little dry, and said the server kept forgetting sauces and drinks. Another found the place noisy, cold and clinical, with only industrial taps and no proper beer. The pub is described as busy and buzzing midweek, and one reviewer suggests going early on Thursday and Friday. One diner was served beef ribs that were mostly fat, and staff took the dish off the bill without hesitation.

“I’ve been coming to this pub for years, and it never disappoints. The location is great — right in central London, just a short walk from the tube and St. Paul’s. The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful every time I visit. The food is very tasty and good value - especially the daily specials - same excellent quality and hard to beat price . Highly recommended.”

“Amazing pub with hidden depths (beautiful downstairs area) the man who served me(Alex) was an amazing host made me feel welcome as did the chef would recommend for all occasions”

“Just went for a beer on a Wednesday evening. Found it very noisy, even though only tables were occupied - no one standing at the bar. Cold and clinical, one of the modern style of pubs with no character. Disappointingly no “proper beer” only industrial taps. Don’t eat so no idea what the downstairs restaurant is like. Won’t go back.”

“I was served a plate of fat yesterday (12/01) Beef Ribs - it was so bad I asked for it to be removed from the bill, no hesitation from staff.”
