About The Orange Tree

The Orange Tree is a gastropub at 7 Totteridge Village in London, with real log fires and a traditional gastropub-style interior. The kitchen cooks seafood and Modern European dishes, and the menu names Cured Trout, Chateaubriand and fish and chips made with haddock. An all day menu runs through the opening hours, and a festive menu appears in December. Guests can order from the table service or at the bar, and the pub opens daily. The pub has been refurbished and introduced a new menu afterward. Its tables for food and its drinks counter share the same room.

“The food was average. The prices were very high, especially considering the quality, and there was also a 12.5% service charge. The area, however, was very beautiful.”

“I recently dined at the Orange Tree with a friend. It was my first visit since they had undergone a refurbishment and introduced their new menu. The Orange Tree has always been a favourite of mine. Beautifully decorated, great atmosphere and service and the food is good. For this visit I ordered fish and chips (Haddock) which was delicious. But if I'm honest I much preferred the old menu to the new one.”

“The food was very clean and delicious. The drinks were amazing and they had ample parking outside. The staff were very friendly and professional. Couldn’t be happier. Will definitely go again”

“We come here all the time being local to the area. All the staff are so friendly, with special mentions to Tina, Stela and Marcel for always looking after us so well. The food is also great.. we’ve tried most of the dishes now, but I personally love the Chateaubriand and my wife swears by the Cured Trout.”

Customer Review Summary

Reviewers most often single out the friendly, attentive staff, who looked after a large group on a busy night and a wedding party alike. Diners describe a welcoming, cosy pub with a nice layout and plenty of tables, busy but cheerful, and one reviewer suggests booking in advance. Named dishes that draw praise include the garlic pizzette, halloumi salad, cured trout, haddock fish and chips, and a rhubarb and cherry crumble, plus a chocolate brownie with ice cream. Opinions on the kitchen are mixed. One regular preferred the old menu to the new one after the refurbishment, and another would have liked the fillet steak thinner than the slab served. A three-star reviewer found the food average, the prices very high and the service charge unwelcome. One diner reports slipping a couple of times on wet floor near the bar on the way to the restrooms. One reviewer found the squid a bit chewy, though others in the group enjoyed their food.
