  “We arrived a little bit before 20:00, nobody came to our table to ask for our order and after we asked for the menu at 20:05 they told us the kitchen was closed without offering any snacks from the bar or asking if we wanted a drink. We were very disappointed with the service and the lack of basic hospitality. We will not be trying it again.”

  “Disappointing We have had some nice meals at the Maid in the past but this was truly disappointing. The main menu options were pretty lack luster, may be try the more interesting bar menu. We reserved a table and ordered 1 starter to share and 2 Sunday roasts. The calamari which looked like may of come from Iceland, it was well cooked but along with the garlic mayo had no real flavor. We were still eating our starter when the mains were brought to the table and the calamari was taken from us while we were still eating it ! And the staff could see this. The staff walked away not even asking if we would like any condiments and we had to ask for horseradish. The roast beef seemed ok , but the meal came up very fast and the veg, potatoes and yorkshire didn't seem very fresh. Then my partner found a large piece of silver foil stuck to the roast potatoes. There was no check back to see if our food was ok so we had to get a member of staff to replace them. We were offered complimentary desserts because of this. However when we got the bill only one was complimentary as only one of us had silver foil! In reality the reduction to the bill was only £3 when a pudding cost £8. We had 2 glasses of wine and 2 beers on top and the whole bill came to £90 I was full , but I could have gone down the chicken shop and had a spicy chicken burger meal for £6.50 and been full. This for us should have been a lovely meal out but was just an expensive disappointment, Shame as we had some lovely meals there”

  “A very pleasing pub with excellent friendly bar staff. Has a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of tables and chairs with lots of space. The food was very satisfying, my bacon cheeseburger and fries was delicious. And didn't have the wait too long between ordering and being served. The only fly in the ointment was the toilets. Ok you don't go to a pub just to sit in the toilet. And it does seem to be a common problem with a lot of pubs. But when you have to go to the toilet it would be nice to have a toilet cubicle where the lock works. In the case of The Maid of Muswell the lock was missing and the toilet seat was broken and fixed with cellartape, that's not a good look for such a nice pub with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Come on Maid of Muswell sort this out, your letting yourselves down.”

  “Had a super meal at this delightful pub. Service extremely good. I didn't like my meal (nothing wrong with it, taste just not to my liking) and they made me a replacement to order, which was delicious. Sticky toffee pudding was wonderful.”

  “This place is excellent! Both times when I have visited it has been quiet as I was out with a elderly family member. However, I have to say the food is excellent, service is good, the place is clean etc. My only gripe (and this is small as the person managed to do what they had to do) was when we were leaving I asked for the ramp (was saying the person I was with was elderly). The employee wasn't sure how to use it and I wasn't convinced it was put in place as should be. In any case that person managed. Note this is a slight thing, overall I really enjoyed my experience there.😄”

  “Visited for a Sunday roast at 5pm. Some aspects were enjoyable — the gravy was tasty, though in the wine-based gravy, the reduction wasn’t done correctly. The veggies were nicely toasted, and the Rioja wine was good. The interior is beautiful and staff were attentive. However, there were quite a few letdowns. The roast potatoes were dried out — felt like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp all day. One of the chicken portions was probably the driest I’ve ever had. Beef and lamb were served without asking for preferred doneness, which really affects the experience. Some parts of the roast even came out cold. Classic cocktails, pricing was fair, and the tables are quite small. Also, there was no lock on the toilet door — not ideal. Overall, it’s disappointing to be served dry or reheated food at this hour, should be fresh. A 3-star rating reflects a mixed experience with room for improvement.”

  “A spontaneous visit having seen the pub from over the road. Blown away by the visuals of the pub. It's clearly had a lot of love put into the appearance and the place was spotless on the inside. Ended up having a couple of pints from the IPA selection and the burger. A little on the pricey side for me but in terms of quality of food and service I can't fault it. Looking forward to coming back! Edit: Came back and it was just as good!!”
