About The Hunter S
The Hunter S is a pub in London with an open plan kitchen on Southgate Rd, where each dish is made to order in view of the room. The menu mixes classic pub dishes with seasonal plates that change regularly, and the kitchen sources its produce direct from suppliers. The Beef Wellington is made to serve two, and a baked camembert glazed with truffle oil arrives with crudités, bread and olives to share. At the bar, Aperol is on tap alongside the beers, and the team will also mix a Negroni or an Aperol Spritz. The toilets, including the gents, are decorated with nude photographs and artwork, which gives the pub an unexpected gallery of its own. Tables are reserved through the online form on the pub's own website rather than through OpenTable.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often return for the beef Wellington, which several call delicious and lovely, with one praising it as perfectly cooked with veg that wasn't soggy and another noting it serves two. The Sunday roast comes up close behind, with a group saying everyone was happy with their meals and singling out the cauliflower cheese as yummy. Starters get a mention too, including a baked camembert glazed with truffle oil, served with crudités, bread and olives. Beyond the food, reviewers like a busy pub atmosphere that still feels different from other pubs, a couple of nice beers on tap, Aperol on tap, and outside tables that catch the sun. Service is mostly praised as friendly and very good, though one reviewer found the wait staff quite slow. The main complaint is portion size on the roast: one diner found one and a bit slices of beef stingy for the price and would rather have paid more for a proper portion. Several mention the toilet artwork of naked photographs, with one cautioning about it when bringing kids, and one noting that a table was available without much wait despite not having booked.

“Great pub with a sophisticated ambience. The food is lovely and the service is great. The gents toilets are a great talking point with classy photographs of naked woman. Artistic and unique . Highly recommended.”

“Great food, and still arrived at a reasonable time even though they were very busy. Be careful if going with kids, as the bathroom decoration is quite graphic, which I found entertaining but others may not 🙂”

“We came for the Sunday roast. Good, busy atmosphere. The roast was generally pretty nice, however one and a bit slices of beef felt a bit stingy for £23. To be honest would have rather paid more to have a proper portion. A couple of nice beers on tap. The outside tables catch the sun, great place to sit. Nice fun pub to spend an afternoon. Liked the toilet artwork - but why is it so heteronormative in the men's toilet?”

“Went here for a Sunday roast, everyone was super happy with their meals. The cauliflower cheese was also super yummy! 4 stars because the wait staff were quite slow.”

“Please do not attempt to book through OpenTable, visit our website and reserve through our online form. Thank you! The Hunter S is a good quality pub that serves delicious no-nonsense grub. You can see every dish being made to order in our open plan kitchen- no soggy microwaved frozen meals here! We take great care in sourcing our produce direct from the best suppliers. Our menu is a mix of classic crowd pleasers and regularly changing seasonal dishes, which means you'll always find something to tempt your taste buds (even if you're in every day!). We are a pub, not a cocktail bar and while we make a blinding Bloody Mary, and will happily mix you an Aperol Spritz or Negroni.”
