About De Beauvoir Arms
The De Beauvoir Arms is a pub at 113 Southgate Rd in London that plays no music and shows no television, leaving the food and the wine list as the focus. The menu draws on Spanish and Mediterranean cooking, with chorizo, olives, and bread and oil among the dishes, and blackboards around the pub list what is being served. Weekday lunch offers three options each day, and the Sunday roast comes as roast pork or roast beef. Apple crumble is available for dessert. Beer is on tap alongside the wine list. The pub has high ceilings and a wooden interior, and large tables are shared when it fills up. Tables cannot be booked and go first come, first served. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the food, with the Sunday roast and the beef stew with bone marrow drawing the strongest praise, along with a crumble for dessert. Close behind are the chorizo, olives and chicken livers, plus a bloody Mary one reviewer rated excellent. The wine list and beer selection earn regular mentions, and several describe a warm, friendly local pub that is busy and spacious, with a terrace out front. Some note it cannot be booked and suggest going early for a table, and one says the weekday lunch is a treat. The caveats are about consistency and pace. One reviewer found a second roast pork and crumble cold in the middle and piping hot outside, another said the roast beef was not hot and needed salt, and a couple mention surly or slow bar and serving staff. Even so, one reviewer who found the beef lukewarm still called it tender and melt in the mouth.

“New menu, great food, stunning service. A stunning locals pub. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the bar staff recognise you and your smile after a couple of visits, the energy and vibes crackles. The menu has a Spanish/Mediterranean influence and having eaten here I am telling you, go for a drink here and forget your dinner plans elsewhere. The food is that good and to my mind, good value for money for what you get and the depth of flavour. An outstanding pub, run by outstanding human beings offering great drinks and eats. Don't take my word for it. Go and see for your self.”

“Lovely spacious pub. Light and airy. In a pretty part of Dr Beauvoir. Nice looking wine list. Beers less exciting. Decent terrace out front. Good place to spend an afternoon.”

“Known by the locals as the DB Arms, this popular friendly relaxed pub has a good atmosphere and vibe. You cannot book, and it is always busy, with people sat outside 12months of the year (they have good heaters). However, its worth going early and getting a table. I would say it's more a food pub, than just a pub. The menu is comforting classics and the quality is very good. We went in early December and late January. Both times we shared a large table, as it was busy (unsurprisingly) and had a lovely evening. In December we chose beef stew and steak. The stew was fantastic (photo does not do it justice), rich in flavour with tender meat, and came with a bone marrow on the side. The crumble for desert was also good. In January we chose mushroom risotto and pork steak with peam garlic and cabbage mash. Both very good. Great beers and wine choice too.”

“Lovely and spacious pub in De Beauvoir with high ceilings and a nice wooden interior. They have a good selection of beer on tap, a long with some delicious food. The menus are posted on blackboards around the pub, and when we stopped by for a small bite, we opted for bread and oil, and the chorizo. All deliciously tasty. Will certainly make a stop by here again next time I am in the area.”
