About The Stag's Head Hoxton
The Stag's Head Hoxton is a Grade II listed pub in London, dating from the 1930s and still carrying its original Trumans brewery signage at 55 Orsman Rd. The interior has wood panelling, original woodwork and separate rooms, along with a sofa area. The back bar works as a live music room with regular gigs, from grass-roots bands to rock n roll and jazz, and the programme also includes open mic nights and DJs. The kitchen serves pub food, including pies, vegan pizza and a Sunday roast. Dogs are welcome. The pub sits beside Regents Canal, so it makes a stop on canal walks. It has been used as a filming location, including for Baby Reindeer, and the venue can be booked for filming and photo shoots.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the large beer garden, which one describes as chilled and another says catches the sun into the evening, alongside the wood-panelled interior of the Grade II listed 1930s building. Food draws praise too, with a baby chicken Sunday roast, a vegan pizza, and a range of pies and burgers named, and one notes big portions. Live music is close behind, with the back room called intimate and grass roots bands and a recent EP launch mentioned. Staff are repeatedly described as friendly and helpful, and one reviewer says a team member helped record a surprise birthday moment. The caveats are few but specific: one says the beer can sometimes be a little flat because of pressure problems, and another gave a one-star account of a bar manager who refused to help when the portable phone chargers did not work. Several note the pub is quiet on weekdays and busy with groups at weekends, and one reviewer watched a football final in the garden with a good atmosphere.

“Dreadful. The service I got was appalling. The staff refused to charge my phone and requested I use the portable chargers they provide. These do not work and I reported this to the bar manager. She told me “why are you making it my problem, sort it out yourself” I was on 5% battery and luckily found someone who helped me get home. If she had the decency, she would’ve, as a woman realised the urgency of my situation. Instead she allowed a man with lots of friends to charge his phone. Management neeed to be aware of this and also the fact these chargers DONT”

“Lovely traditional old back street boozer with a garden/courtyard. Only popped in for a pint so can't comment on food or entertainment but I'd definitely go back. How a pub should be!”

“This is a nice pub tucked away behind Regents Canal in Hoxton, housed in a Grade II listed 1930’s building with original signage of the Trumans Burton brewery. It has all the feel of an East End boozer with a cosy, wood-panelled interior. It alternates between a quiet place for a drink in the week and large groups at the weekend. The crowd is generally quite varied. There is a large beer garden which catches the sun into the evening. It serves typical pub grub. The staff are always very friendly. There is a fair selection of beers, at fairly standard prices. Beer can sometimes be a little flat (problems with pressure). Good for: ✅ Relaxed atmosphere and surroundings ✅ Spacious beer garden ✅ Location by Regents Canal ✅ Well-priced pub grub”

“A nice little locals put just North of Shoreditch. Plenty of history and has been the setting for some filming locations. Still do live music (great to see in a residential area where other have struggled). Plenty of space inside and maybe more a winter pub. Staff are super nice and helpful and a nice stop on a Regents Canal walk. Worth a quick visit”

“Frenik was fantastic when making sure our reservation was sorted. Compliments to the chefs, the food was amazing, a great range of pies and burgers. Garden is really sizeable, plenty of space and it looks great. We were watching the final tonight, even though England weren’t in it the atmosphere was so nice.”
