About Howl At The Moon
Howl At The Moon is a Victorian pub in Shoreditch, London, near Hoxton market and set back from the main streets, at 178 Hoxton St. The room has wood floors and big windows, and the beer list rotates. Three Irish stouts are on draught, Beamish, Murphys and Guinness, so stout drinkers have a choice alongside the changing beers. Musicians play live in the bar, including Irish music, and the screens show Irish matches and rugby. Food comes from a residential pop-up kitchen. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the atmosphere, describing a lively room with live music, including Irish music, and people dancing on tables late in the evening. Close behind is the stout line-up on draught, where Beamish, Murphys and Guinness get repeated mention as "proper" and well kept. Staff are called cheery and helpful, with one reviewer describing how the team held onto a lost coat and returned it weeks later, and another recalling the staff accommodating everyone during a rugby final screening. A reviewer also praises the bouncers and a manager for making them feel safe. The pop-up kitchen and spice bags draw interest, with one reviewer calling the food very good. The main caveat is crowding: the pub is described as packed on Friday and Saturday, and quite busy and loud at night. One reviewer did not enjoy a hopped lager, though they called it a matter of taste rather than a fault. Reviewers also mention Irish matches and small events through the year.

“We didn't have food but it looked real tasty watching it come out. We watched the rugby final there and the staff were super helpful at trying to make sure everyone was accommodated. The bar has brilliant vibes, with musicians playing and outdoor seating as well if you wanted.”

“Love this place. The bouncers were on it and so kind. The manager was amazing at her job, felt so safe and was a testament to the venue. Long may these venues run!!”

“Popped in for the first time for a quick drink on my way home. Hands down best atmosphere I have ever walked into on a Monday night ever. This place is run by people who know what they are doing. Great energy, friendly and really welcoming. Absolutely brilliant”

“Does get packed to the nines on a Friday and Saturday but this is a favourite spot of mine in shoreditch. Good tunes, they play the Irish matches and they have little fun events on throughout the year!”

“Howl at the Moon is a fun, high-energy spot with a lively atmosphere that makes for a great night out. The space has a cool, slightly edgy feel, and there’s always a good buzz, especially later in the evening. Drinks are well made, with a solid selection, and the whole place leans into a more social, upbeat vibe. It can get quite busy and loud, but that’s part of the appeal if you’re in the mood for something energetic. A great choice for a casual night out with friends or somewhere a bit more lively than your usual bar.”
