Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the pies, with the steak and ale pie described as awesome, where the mash can be swapped for fries and the gravy poured over, and others urging the British pies. The sticky toffee pudding gets a mention as well, along with fish and chips and a good selection of cask beers, whisky and proper pints. The upstairs dining room and the interior are called lovely and gorgeous, and the pub is also described as cozy and homely, with a location handy for Oxford Circus and the Underground. Several praise the staff, including a bartender who was warm and chatty, a server who accommodated food allergies, and a team that handled a casual buffet party upstairs flexibly. The main complaints concern service. One diner says a relief server stopped monitoring the dining room, so people went to the bar to order and ask for the check. Another describes staff chatting behind the bar while customers waited, tables left sticky and uncleared. Reviewers also note the pub gets very busy, though one found a table in the back.

“Booked a casual buffet private party upstairs for nearly 30 people and the communication before and during was exceptional as well as the staff on the night who made everything perfect and were great at communicating and being flexible and making us very comfortable throughout the evening.”

“The Argyll has been on my list since I read it's history in "The Great Pubs of London." I finally stopped in just before last call on a Monday night and grabbed a pint. No complaints on the pour or the price. The interior of the pub is gorgeous and there are some great tables to catch up with a friend. Good vibes overall and recommended!”

“My husband and I really enjoyed this pub. We ate in the dining room on the second floor and the ambiance was truly lovely. They had our favorite beers and ciders, and our meals were the delicious. The sticky toffee pudding is AMAZING, so definitely order it!! Our first server was great and attentive but she went on break and the relief server was not; people had to go up to the bar to get checks and order because she was not monitoring the dining room.”

“Just grabbed some drinks with a mate here. Our Bartender Chris was amazing; he was super polite, warm, friendly, chatty, and good vibes all-round. We had a lovely time getting drinks here, especially thanks to Chris. Moreover, the aesthetic, atmosphere and music is lovely and homely. Will definitely be coming again :)”

“Popped in for a pint before a gig and after getting off the train. Very handy location if you've just got off the Underground or are shopping. Beautiful pub and well worth a visit.”
