About The Windmill, Mayfair
The Windmill, Mayfair is a London pub at 6-8 Mill St that puts pies at the centre of the menu, with two pie rooms and a pie club on site. The pie list runs from a Guinness and short rib pie to a chicken, bacon and leek pie served with mash, and vegetarian pies sit alongside the standard savoury ones. Real ales are served with the food, and the staff recommend beers to match the meal. Steak and kidney is on the list too, and sticky toffee pudding covers dessert. The pub opens daily and takes payment by cash or card. Dogs are welcome.

Customer Review Summary
Pies are what reviewers return to The Windmill for, with the Guinness and short rib pie called "perfect" by one diner and the best pie in London by another. Close behind are the steak and kidney pie with its flaky crust, the steak and mushroom pie, the chicken, bacon and leek pie with mash, and a shepherd's pie. Reviewers also single out vegetarian pies, fries with gravy, and the sticky toffee pudding, which staff recommended to one table. The beer selection draws praise, and one server suggested a beer to match a meal. The roast lamb Sunday roast and the rooftop and upstairs terrace come up for family lunches. Staff are described as warm and welcoming, and one server shared the pub's history of pie competition wins. The one complaint is the wine, which one reviewer called the only real disappointment and said they should have stuck with beer. Several note how popular and loud the pub is, and one reviewer left with a new favorite phrase, "Lovely jubbly", picked up from a server.

“Without a doubt, one of the best meals of my life. We had the Steak & Mushroom Pie and the Shepherd’s Pie, and they were both outstanding. Every single bite was amazing. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the music was perfect, the service was exceptional, and everything was spotless. We finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding, which was recommended by the staff, and it was absolutely delicious—the perfect way to end an unforgettable dinner. Thank you for such an amazing experience. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to come back!”

“We had a delicious meal with our family on Father’s Day. A great choice of food on the menu. Very good drink options. Lovely outdoor terrace upstairs. Very good value for our money. Good to see they take cash or card. Would definitely recommend a visit and will return for another tasty meal.”

“Very nice pub hidden from the Main Street. I had a pleasure to be served by Karol who nicely introduced us to the history of the pub and its strong performance in the pie competitions since 1997! After tasting the food I have to agree that the pies were amazing. Really good place to visit”

“The Windmill holds a special place in my family’s heart and stomach! Absolutely delicious pies and stellar service. Patrick was so attentive, kind, and such a pleasure to have met. He even put me onto the saying, “Lovely jubbly” which I can’t stop saying now lol.”

“The perfect pub for delicious pies and an ale. The pub is very popular and the noise level and energy are high. Savory pies, both vegetarian and standard, were outstanding and the fries and gravy were memorable.”
