About Bull's Head
Bull's Head is a pub on Lonsdale Rd in London, where a Jazz Club at the back hosts live jazz for an evening of music alongside a drink. The main bar is built around an island servery, and cask ales sit among the beers. An adjoining room has a fireplace and bookshelves, while the Holst room is a snug set aside for quiet drinks. The food menu includes fish and chips and burgers, and roasts are served in the Melrose Room, which looks over the river. The Balloon room takes meetings and small private parties for groups. A weekly pub quiz rounds out the schedule.

Customer Review Summary
Reviewers most often single out the friendly, welcoming staff, with servers called excellent and one bartender remembered for recalling regulars' orders. Food comes close behind: the steak with chimichurri, triple cooked chips with aioli and Sunday roasts earn praise, and one reviewer recommends the roasts with the view from the Melrose Room. Live jazz and a lovely, chilled atmosphere also come up. The criticism centres on the food and one service failure. One diner found the fish and chips batter dark and too crisp and missed lettuce and tomato on the burgers, and another felt the Eton Mess had too much cream. A one-star review describes being told the kitchen opened later than the menu stated, then being charged for gin shots by a rude bartender and getting no table service. Elsewhere, extra jugs of gravy arrived generously, and a server offered to take the Eton Mess off the bill.

“If I could leave zero stars I would. Went in for dinner and drinks at 4:20pm. Menu at restaurant and google states dinner service behinds at 4pm. We were informed the kitchen wasn’t open until 5pm. We chose to have a drink & wait for dinner service to begin. Ordered shots of 4 fins to sample England gins. Bartender was rude & stated we had to pay for the shots as they did not do free tasting. We had not asked for free tastings but ordered shots. 5pm came and went. We never saw the waitress again. We stepped up & got our own menus & waited until 5:20pm without any help or even acknowledgement despite the new bartender watching us continually. At 5;30pm we paid for our drinks and left with a snooty comment from the bartender as we left. Rude & unprofessional restaurant.”

“On arrival, I discovered there was nowhere to sit. I approached the bar, gently screaming interiorly. I asked at the bar if there was additional seating upstairs and the winsome Jack let me know there was. Though, he said, I would be alone up there. Disregarding his kindly warning of potential ostracism, pint in hand, I headed up and entered a creaky, Hitchcock-esque ballroom with scattered seating, guest 1 of 1. I selected a corner banquette in a shadowy recess deep in the abandoned space. Sat there, sipping my *by the way* immaculately poured pint, all that could be heard from the heart of darkness were my intermittent sips and specks of dust occasionally grazing each other in the stagnant air. Questioning my choices, Jack suddenly appeared, a point of light in the enveloping darkness, with great presence of mind, gliding into the room like a benevolent spirit, nimbus-crowned, to illuminate the chandeliers. He then opened the French windows, ushering in a lustrous, raking light and a singing river breeze. Then, in honeyed speech, he let me know all my hopes and desires could be realised via the QR code on the table's menu and, with a winning smile, he disappeared from my now sunlit perch. Let this review be a specific paean to Jack (underlined) and his gleaming hospitality. He did look parched, though. Someone should sort that out.”

“Wonderful pub, always welcoming staff and lovely chilled vibes. Food is class and always a good selection of drinks. Jack is a brilliant bar tender, remembers our order and is always smiling !”

“We only stopped in for a few drinks and some nibbles, but the service was excellent from start to finish. We felt genuinely well looked after, and the steak with chimichurri was absolutely perfect. Great atmosphere, friendly team and a lovely pub. Looking forward to coming back”
